Sorry for a noob question. Why did it happen to Napoli players mostly? There are so many black players in other teams. Why didn’t it happen in Inter vs Juventus? Is it because of Northern cities versus Southern?

The problem is Italy itself not the FIGC or clubs. Racism is an every day thing in Italy. I'm not calling every Italian an racist because they are not but I was on vacation in Italy last summer with 2 black friends and you could feel that quit a lot of people looked down on them. We couldn't even go to some clubs in Rome because they don't allow black people to enter.
I have been to Milano once, back in 2012. I was actually on a business trip in Paris and to my luck I found out one of my friends from Turkey was in Milano and he suggested to buy a ticket and fly back to home from Milano, to which my company wasn't against. I spent only 1 day and I didn't face with any so called racism there, or any behavior from locals which would make me feel a bit weird (For example in Turkey, people, mostly illiterate or kids would joke around me constricting their eyes or shouting some madeup words in chinese mixed with jackie chan or jet li names because I look like koreans, japanese ). I went to local club with my homie, we drunk there until i started throwing out, I even smoked local weed and gone berserk. Nobody responded aggressively, in fact everybody were cheering me and when I reached the point where no tolerance was acceptable, somebody told to my friend who spoke italian that we should call for taxi and go home to sleep :D But one thing I will never forget, I was traveling on the subway and what I noticed was that securities were checking for tickets only those who looked asian  I don't know why, maybe asians were cheating with tickets, my friend also didn't know the reason because he normally drove car there. Good memories, I managed visiting our stadium, Duomo and Inter store, bought some Inter attributes and then went back home ;)

When I was visiting I slept at an Airbnb in Milan's Chinatown... I don't think people there would find an Asian face a novelty, as they did in turkey.

I'm more interested what will be the punishment for those involved in racial abuse. Is there a life-time ban in Serie A? Can Inter on there own ban someone from attenting their home games?

What I'd like to read is "200 peeople banned from attending Serie A games for 20 years" but nooooo let's close the stadium for everyone.

Those who partake in racist chants are nothing more than a human garbage, and they should end up in a waste container.

Exactly, the teams don't want to do anything about it. Period, people might as well except that.

Asian face wasn't novelty in Turkey either. Though black people didn't attract too much attention like asians did in terms of street teasing.. But it was ok for me, I would laugh with them and move on.

I feel this story marks the end of the boxing Day in serie A. I wonder how many policemen where home because it was the 26th of December. If we can't guarantee security during the Xmas holidays...

This is too harsh and I read someone suggested to deduct some points, these punishments change nothing it's more a cultural problem than anything else. In our country both of the types of punishments applied in past and nothing have changed. Yes last night was a horrible one but it wasn't the first time that happened and this huge media reactions are a little overreacting I think, and after this we must expect huge pressure towards our team from media and other teams. I hope our management can handle this show.
No overreaction. Hate it had to be us but this B.S. needs to be stamped out once and for all.

Inter fans barred from Empoli

Empoli have now been directed not to sell to Nerazzurri supporters.
.........
As I said earlier! This is just the beginning.

I don't want to state the obvious and repeat the points made by others as how bad booing is, etc.-this was already covered by previous posters numerous times.

What I wanted to cover is Sala's (Milano mayor) proposal to give captain's armband to Asamoah for next match. The interracial and multicultural relationship topic is extremely delicate, as is the subject of immigrants and refugees. I've never lived in Europe so can't experience the day-to-day issues of cohabitation of different people with different culture, language, historical background, etc.etc.hence I can't judge anyone. Personally I've been raised in multicultural bilingual community and haven't ever experienced any racial tensions in my country, actually the first time I've ever seen people treated differently because of their race or skin colour was in US.

So, the proposal to give Asamoah's armband because of how Koulibaly was treated really stinks, for me it shows that Sala is a covert racist himself. What's the point of doing that? "Black Economic Empowerment","Affirmative action, like in post-apartheid South Africa? We want to promote a society where everyone is treated equally regardless of their age, sex, race, etc. and yet after a player with black skin was booed we want to give captain's armband to another black player? Thus effectively proving that skin colour matters and is a way of how people distinguish from each other?

I also can understand why BEE was established in South Africa and that's a benevolent deed in a nutshell, cause it was established to help redress all the inequalities of previous political regime. I don't want to cover cases when social background actually became the most important factor instead of qualification and experience now.(hence cases when people with white skin were disavantaged when considered by a potential employer). The thing is, the idea was to mitigate all the inequalities of the past.

But Asamoah's case is different. He became a player of a top clubs like Juve and Inter purely because of his skills, his tenacity. He wasn't negatively discriminated because he was black and so worse midfielders played instead of him, nor he was positively discriminated, as if he had shit skills but was bought by Juve because they had to have specified number of African descendants in their squad. He made successfull career because he is a good player, simple as that, regardless of skin, white, yellow, black, or gray-brown-crimson. And now covert racist Sala wants to give armband to him because he is African and black hence we need to please him. No, we need to have a society of equal opportunities and treatment. Giving armband to person because he is black is not acceptable way to treat this problem. In my opinion this is a huge insult of Asamoah.

Sala probably proposed that with emotions and he isn't a racist himself but his subsonciousness is clearly racist, he just can't acknowledge that.

Re what forzainter said, I was always amused how foreigners most of the time treat a person with epicanthic fold as a Chinese. In Turkey people think I am Chinese, even in Russia some people think so too, whereas I can (9 out of 10 cases) distinguish Kazakh, Uzbek or other Central Asian person from Chinese one. In Italy I was greeted with "Ni hao" almost everywhere, same in Spain or France.

My personal take on racism is that Italians aren't racist per se, but are driven into racism by politicians who see it at their advantage: if Italians are angry at the strangers, or even black italians, then they won't be angry at the politicians who rob us every day. So racists are twice stupid: because they are racist and because they are so easily manipulated.

I too want to express my solidarity to Koulibaly. The impressive display of defensive ability he displayed yesterday should have earned him the applauses of the whole stadium. Unfortunately, though, among the supporters who genuinely love the game, there's always a minority who see football as the safest way to cause trouble/vent their frustration without repercussions.

Apparently the dead person was a Varese fan (their curva is twinned with ours) who had already served two DASPOs (5-year ban from every Italian stadia) issued against him as a result of his involvement in fights between rival ultra groups. Imho, that only proves two things:

1) Forcing a club to play a number of games behind closed doors, or even docking points from them, won't do any good, considering we are talking about delinquents who don't give a fuck about the club. Come on, he was banned twice, but that didn't prevent him from causing more trouble in the vicinities of stadia. Among those involved in the brawl there were also Nice supporters. Please tell me, what business do a bunch of French ultras have with Inter or football in general? It's clear the only reason of their presence was to take part in the fighting. Do you think they would give a fuck if Inter were banned into oblivion? My point is you can't expect anyone to learn from their mistakes if you keep making someone else pay for their wrongdoings. Start making them serve some prison time, instead. Some of them might learn a thing or two that way

2) These people's strength lies in their numbers. I doubt they would be as bold as they currently are if they were on their own. It's the herd instinct that makes them act like that. That's why I always advocated the dismantlement of every organised form of support. I'm sure there's plenty of people who just want to get together with their friends and enjoy a good game of football, but that's the only way to prevent those animals (they are, unlike Koulibaly) from getting together.

Also keep in mind that the vast majority of Italian stadia are city-owned, which means that the clubs have little to no power to intervene in case of trouble (thanks to the Italian legal system a steward can get in serious trouble if he only lays his hands on a fan). So basically the ones who actually hold the power don't do shit and then lay the blame on the clubs. Cardona, who is the man responsible for the safety of the streets in Milan has demanded exemplary punishment for Inter. I wonder what should/could we have done to prevent the incidents from happening? Should we have sent Ausilio and Scarpini put to patrol the streets around the Meazza? Whatever happens, rest assured Cardona won't resign. Typical Italian hypocrisy.

Anyway, I think we shouldn't appeal. Just accept the punishment, apologise to Koulibaly and go on. I hope, however, there's a way to identify these assholes and give them a lifetime ban from our games.

well, its not only italians.

many "fans" in russia throwing banans at black people (not only black players) because they dont want them in their country.
many of black guys are illegal immigrants and they should not be here.
many of those "fans" are pure criminals

well, as far i remember this new guy mayor of london sadiq khan said that stabbing and terror acts are a part of living in big city in europe. and thats true

italy and france are on first line ( napoli, OM ) and sadly racist chants and killing football fans is part of today life in europe.

the state of italy, france etc cant tackle that shit so what can inter do? we can put some nice words on twiter, say its bad and we are sorry and thats it.

Erm, I'm pretty sure you won't witness such recurring episodes in the EPL. There is obviously a way if there's a will.

I'd like to play devil's advocate here but a lot of people here are pointing fingers at EPL's fanbase, how stadiums are quiet and dead and it's mostly tourists and people that behave like they're attending a theatrical performance and not a derby.

With the ultras' passion and dedication you get that unique atmosphere and the intensity of a derby game but you also get racist idiots that stab people and do all kinds of shit purely because they have nothing better to do. It's a two-way street and sadly if we lose one we'd probably lose the other. Anyway, if that's the price then let it be. I just wanted to bring that up for discussion.

so, since i dont know, you cant buy a ticket in EPL without ID and they know everyone on the stadium and they ban people for life?

thats the only way to kick them out of stadium

It happened because Napoli fans killer an Inter fan before the game.

The Curva Nord sung more anti-Napoli chants than their whole life combined. Koulibaly just took some of that vent as he was an 'easy' target.

the chants were vs koulibaly and vs south italians too. man, its to much for me.

and the final shit i dont understand, since they hate black guys, do they insult keita balde and asamoah?
