Mancini: Leave Adriano alone

Roberto Mancini urged the Press to release its grip on a tense Adriano and praised match-winner Julio Ricardo Cruz.

“We went behind on Porto’s only shot on goal so, in this difficult time, we struggled a bit to get back on track. Nonetheless, I’m sure we deserved to win tonight,” he said after Inter’s 2-1 victory.

“The pitch is deteriorating and the absence of a crowd is really causing us problems. We pushed and pushed until we eventually found a way through.”

It was a sluggish performance, particularly from Adriano, who has been in the media spotlight over the last few weeks for his tardiness and the alleged break-up with his girlfriend. Some sections of the Italian Press suggest this is the reason for his poor form and published details of his partying lifestyle.

“I think that a 23-year-old lad has the right to have fun in his life,” insisted Mancio. “He’s not the only one who can turn up late occasionally and I think there has been too much talk about his private life lately. It’s his job to make the most of his talents on the field, but he needs more than a week of solid training to recover his form. We should leave Adriano’s private life to him and it’s nobody else’s business.”

Adriano was replaced by Cruz and that proved to be the turning point, as the Argentine bagged a brace to turn the game around completely after an early Hugo Almeida missile of a free kick from 30 metres.

“Cruz had fresh legs and could put more pressure on our opponents. If the strikers continue to push midfielders and force them into mistakes, we’ll win a lot more games. Clearly we didn’t push as much in the first half as there was time to get back into it, but the tempo was a little slow and improved after the break.”

Luis Figo put in a series of crosses for the ineffective forwards and impressed Mancini with his performance, while the tactician hinted at a new partnership for the trip to Lazio.

“Figo did very well tonight and I’m happy for him, as he’s a great professional and has worked hard to settle in. Cruz and Adriano have played together before with good results.”

Inter are now four points clear at the top of Group H with Artmedia and Rangers on five and Porto bringing up the rear with three.

“I won’t say we’re already qualified for the next round, but there can’t be long to go, and so we must focus on getting back on track in Serie A and getting a win away to Lazio this weekend.”

Adriano phucking another sefish. I really want kicking Adriano ass. this type players will betray one´s club. like Pignaldo. but I hope Adriano is totally different person.

However... I really dislike J.Cesar. because J.Cesar only good response. he had huge problem air, communication with defenders, inexperience.

I don't understand Mancini. why not Toldo?????

One thing I would like to say about Cruz. Most people think that its just bad luck, that when Cruz starts, he never scores, but when he comes on as a sub, he goes bang bang bang.
IMO, when he comes on as a sub in 60th minute or near abouts, the opposing team players are already tired, well not fully fresh, like they would have been in the first minute, and Cruz comes on totally fresh, and uses his extra energy to perfection :star:. I think he should be our supersub.

nothing new shahz... I think almost every member here knows that and thinks like that, cause cruz is super cub and will allways be...he can only start for 1st minute if other are injured, otherwise no

I didnt see the game, but fro what I have heared pizarro, figo and cruz ofcourse wore our best

1 question, who was attacking, and who was holding mid today (from veron and pizarrro)

and for few of you who lost their faith in adriano-oba duo, be quiet, cause I dont want to fight with you in month or so when they become what they are, best striker duo, best strikers on earth
give them some space and time, they are still so young

Poor game. We won the game because in the second half, porto was afraid of us.
Adriano was not good, and Wome too.
Mancini subs?
Great, they won us the game, that says all.
Cambiasso really needs his rest, but...we won't get it.
I was a little sad because Recoba did not play, but since we won the game I can't criticize that.
I really hope we improve our game against Lazio or else we will be back to not winning.

pizzaro was the player in the holding position,he played a great match, and zzang, lol how the hell can u critisice julio cesar and adriano, for starters cesar has been one of ur best players with figo and samuel, and adriano was still in pain as i saw him limp and hold his shoulder a few times,he has to fully recover.

Thank God for this win, the situation is getting delicate every time we are behind.

Great job Cruz, and you may just saved your coach from another 'vote of confidence.'

I agree 100% with Mancio's decision to play Pizarro - Veron today. CZ was out, Cambiasso was overplayed, and Stan is injured. In such cases, it's mandatory to play the only centre duo together, and thankfully it didn't backfire.

I feel for Adriano, I really do. God knows what he is going through at the moment, he has been a carnt...but the media is really giving it to him.
We have Lazio, but after that if he is struggling, I'd let him go to Brasil for a week or two and just get things back toghether.

On the match, well done Cruz. Argentine callup well justified.
Pizarro as I said, even if he does sh1t...give him a good run, a player like him can't be sh1t. If he plays a few in a row, he'll be Udinese Piza again.
Well done Burdisso too. Struggled going forward, but what we needed was him to hold his own defensively, which he did, and its not as if he didn't try to attack, he was doing very well.

Pizarro is one hell of a talent, let's just hope he will get to his top soon and stay there

I personaly don't blame adriano for his form
He is still young and unexperiance player and it's just too dumb from club and mancini to put that much pressure on him.
STOP talking about him mancini and co.
Put pressure on guys like veron, javier, mihajlovic nad co. who knows how to react to media and criticism, leave adriano alone

now every ball he gets he wants to do something, and that wont help him

I am still amd at mancini when he said that adriano is symbol of inter, and that inter isnt the same without adriano...He couldnt say dumber thing

I am affraid adriano wont be on his top while he is at inter, club just doesnt know how to protect players like him

Didn't watch the game at all since the TV here prefer betis-chelski match. But I follow the progress of the game via livescore.

Grazie Cruz.

The same thing is happening with the Inter in my WE9 game. In the game, Adriano and Martins can't score for f*ck's sake, but Cruz slots it home like a piece of cake.

In real life, not much difference, is it?

Well, let's just hope Martins improve his finishing, and Adriano goes back to his scoring ways.

it's impossible, it's always a leading striker in a team gets all the pressure

F*ck the media! :finger: One of the lowest scums on Earth who profit from others' misery.

Good point. I read that there are rumours that he just broke up with his girlfriend. Perhaps the recent partying debacle we read from him was because Adriano was depressed and need to let it go for one night or something (Optimistic thoughts here). But if Adriano isn't called up to the NT (What are the chance that Perreira won't screw us again though?), I would like to see him being given 2-3 days to sort his private life out before joining the training camp.

Good victory, but I'm not impressed. Even though we were only beaten by a fantastic goal. Mancini must give up the idea of playing Pizarro and Veron together, at least for a while. We're in a very important part of the season now. There's no room for experiments.

We did not do well before Cuchu came on and that was when we scored and dominated totally. Why didn't Esteban start? The most frightening thing about everything is perhaps that we are looking to dependent on Cambiasso. But this is quite normal though, there are few, if any, teams that plays without holding midfielders. The midfield we fielded last night was asking for trouble. I don't know if it was meant as a compensation but Wome is certainly not a wing. Well, never again, Mancio!! We need CriZan or Cuchu at the midfield, else we can lose on walkover.

Positive that Cruz keeps up the scoring now that Adri's out of form. And give Toldone a new chance, Roberto.

We win 2-1. But not impressive.

An Average game compared to inter of last year but good comeback i dont know why mancini still plays veron he cant dribble anymore but look at pizzaro wow Dribbles like hell with out fear or any problems he must play instead of veron figo very good performance but needs to regain free kicks sence but if cruz played from the begining inter would have won easily cause figo's crosses are a killer , Wome actually he cant cross a ball and where is solari ???? how can he doesnt play on the left or like manicini doesnt like him ??? Burdisso very good and tireless , matrix Boooo , Miha Hell yeah he is the saviour guys he is 37 so what maldini is 38 i guess and play good
look at the crosses he kills recoba with his crosses and free kicks really the number one in the world in crosses and free kicks
veron , matrix , wome benched
pizzaro , burdisso / miha / , sloari or kily

But good comeback and for the lazio game we better use recoba and cruz it is a must ... and c.zanetti i missed u but cambiasso is really good
We are gaining spirit now and if we won against lazio and played a good game we will be back for both scudetto and cl
