Write a long, descriptive, analytical and articulate post, attempting to have interesting discussion:

The 4321 we're playing is more like a 433. Sneijder doesn't defend. The 3 midfielders behind him (Guarin, Cambiasso, Gargano) are essential. If we play this retarded 4231 with Sneijder as AMF, 2 'wingers' and a striker, that means we have just 2 midfielders in the defensive phase. (which would be fucking disastrous)

The way we played against Pescara was great, and I think we can practically do the same against anyone in the league. Serie A is not that strong tbh (sadly). I would be very worried if Strama tried to play the same attack-minded, possession-driven style against the Barcelona's, Real Madrid's and Man Utd's out there. That being said, being in the EL this season, we don't need to worry about that too much. :yao: (Bar some shock elimations in the CL group stages and assuming we make it to the group/knockout stages of the EL :)yao:))

Response:

1:0 would be just perfect

:fu:

This'll be a nice early test for our midfield. IMO our midfield on paper shits on theirs. If we can take advantage of that and control the pace and direction of the game we'll easily score 2-3 goals, but I feel like the key point is dominating the midfield.

4-1 or 3-1 for us. I feel like Gargano/Silvestre/Rano are going to have a good lesson to learn in this match, just based on overlapping and how to cover for each other.

What are you talking about. We very much have the players for a 4-2-3-1 now.

Cassano is useless on wings. + And Strama wants a defensive minded winger on one side of 4-2-3-1. A player who act's like a fake RCM/LCM. (Jonatha, Zanetti etc. :palm:) Unless we have a winger like Antonio Valencia on one side, fuck the 4-2-3-1.

4-3-2-1 is the best formation for the team we have atm.

Milito
Cassano - Sneijder
Guarin - Cambiasso - Gargano
Periera - Silvestre - Ranocchia - Zanetti
Handanovic/Castelazzi

When is Handanovic returning? either way Castelazzi is a strong back-up. Sub in Coutinho for Cassano and Palacio for Milito if we need the pace to play counter attack football against roma.

Ugh...you have never watched Cassano play in your entire life have you? He usually "loves" to drift out on the wings. He can also cut inside and destroy players. He is very comfortable outwide.

Obviously more the you. Just because he "loves" to cut inside does not make him a winger. Do you even know what winger is? Cassano should be played as SS or AM. And that's it, he is USELESS in other position. :palm: If start being smart-ass make sure you actually watch him at least once or twice.

This will be a big test for Ranocchia. Roma have the attack to tear one in Inter, and their kind of attack is also one against which our slow defenders are especially vulnerable. I would be delighted if we can keep a clean sheet or give at max 1 goal here. With our attack and their defence, we should be able to score at least 2 here.

Central players who drift out to the wings are fundamentally different than wingers.
Players like Cassano are useful when they move out from the packed central position to free channels on the wing (which is usually left out by attacking full-back) and drag along the central defender who is marking them. Thus create space in the middle to exploit by other players darting in from behind.
This kind of movement is only possible for forwards who started centrally.
If Cassano starts on the wing then obviously the full-back will be the one marking him and his off-the-ball movement will be too predictable (always cutting in).

The most recent examples are Italy's games at Euro 2012. A lot of their goal-scoring opportunities come from Cassano (or Balotelli) who drifted out wide from central attacking position.

I'm quiet seriously worried about our defence, I hope Julio wears his lucky gloves this time.

Still, we won't be going in with 100% of our power squad I believe.

I would love to Palacio taking a chuck out of the Roma defenders, especially since he can drift and come from the sides with Milito occupying the middle, but I think Strama will give Cassano a starting berth again. Id also give Coutinho a crack from the top of the match supported by Sneijder.

Totti has recovered for Sunday. Anyway this Roma is still playing Enrique style and new players have not settled in. We can definitely win Zeman boys.

Have you ever actually SEEN a 4-2-3-1?. Because you have no clue what you are talking about. If anything, it's more a defensive formation rather than an attacking one. Although I would argue that it's how you play on the field that make your tactics offensive or defensive, formation is almost irrelevant these days in that respect.

Cassano can't play on the wing? LMAO. As usual some of you show that you do very little actual watching of football.
