Lol? Is this serious? My goodness. Cassano never played as a winger in Real Madrid. He played his usual, second striker Role. And Cassano played as a Winger at the Euros Q's? No he didn't. Cassano played his second striker role again. He drifts to the wings as it draws players out of position and makes him and his striking partner harder to mark. And he loves to do this, and does it frequently. He also drops to the midfield, and he doesn't focus on one wing, he changes sides as he sees fit, as his role is quite free. Do you think when Cambiasso comes into the box hes playing a centre forward? Intelligent players like Cassano know that occupying various offensive positions on the field causes a multitude of problems for the opposition. Thats why Cuchu can be so beneficial to an attack when people here seem to think hes playing bad or useless. As he like Cassano, often diverts opponents away from their designated positions. That does not make a player who temporarily moves to that position a winger/center forward etc etc. You put Cassano out on the wing, and tell him to stay there like say Valencia or Robben. Well hes gonna fail hard, as he doesn't have the characteristics to play in that role. But he has the characteristics to play his role, very intelligently, and not limit himself to just behind the striker. Theres a big difference between going wide, and operating as a winger.
