Icardi looks really gay in this pic...
Unless you watched a different match, we didn't stay back and we didn't hit Roma on counters except the last part. The main reason why we did well was because Roma's midfield was non existent. They were dependent on Salah and Gervinho. Guarin, Medel and Brozovic were running freely. I didn't even notice Florenzi was playing if not because he was subbed off. Pjanic frustration started early in the game and he lost it nearly the end of first half. The fact that Medel was running uncovered to have his shot emphasized this even further. Owning the midfield to our game, ease our fullbacks a much easier jobs to do as they wouldn't need to cover midfield asses and can focus on shutting Salah and Gervinho. Then, none.. none of our wings were really threatening Roma's full backs. They did well but they didn't make them having a nightmare. You can try to count the number of crosses we had. At one stage of the game, the stats was showing Inter's attack plays through left and right side was zero.
I was surprised by Mancini's selection but I was more surprised by Roma's non-existent midfield.
Why you think Roma's midfield was non-existent? Not only their midfield, but almost their entire team didn't stand out. Maybe only Gervinho and Salah on occasions.
Why do you think none of our wings threatened Roma? Both Ljajic and Perisic were most of the time in our half defending!
Our players stayed in our half most of the time. The only player which wasn't defending much was Jovetic, that's about it.
That's how counter attacking works.
Look I'm not going to argue with you anymore. I'm sorry but I honestly think that you either didn't watch the match or weren't paying attention. Only a blind person would say this match was decided by individual quality. Maybe you've understood 'individual quality' or (individual achievement as you call it) wrong?
Not only many FIF members but also experts analyzing the match had the same opinion. It's something really obvious and I don't know how can one fail to understand it.
Off to bed...
You have terribly incorrect opinions
In studio they are saying they were surprised to see Nagatomo in the line up and then they were even more surprised how he managed to contain Salah and Gervinho. They are praising Nagatomo and then Mancini for playing him. They showed two clips where Naga managed to keep up with Salah and are saying if it wasn't for Naga, Salah would've scored two goals. No mention of Handa so far.
No such a thing.Shared first place.*
D'AMBROSIO: "OUR JOB TO MAKE MANCINI'S HARD"
well well well ...
oh cmon, read the fucking article, he said make mancinis job hard in choosing the starting eleven, meaning that he has to choose from qualitative players who all can contribute.
