I think Pep had an experience with Barca B first before taking over the first team. I can't recall Leonardo having any kind of coaching experience before?

Nope.

In December 2007 he was interviewed for the vacant position of director of football at English premiership side, West Ham United.[4] In early 2008 he was appointed as the Technical Director of his beloved former club AC Milan. Later on December 2008 he also achieved Italian citizenship, after twelve years in Italy as a resident.[5] He has since been named manager at AC Milan, starting at the beginning of the 09/10 season, after Ancelotti left by mutual consent, [6] despite not still having the required coaching badges (he is set to attend a UEFA A coaching course on June 2009)

By the way, I heard some rumors that we might be in the second pot next season due to poor performance in CL. Is it true? Anyone have any links/sources that talk about it?

Yes, we will be in pot 2 because we're currently ranked 11 in the UEFA 2009 Team Rankings.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/trank2009.html

As you can see it's based on a 5 year aggregate, so even though Milan haven't done well recently, they are still ranked 5th because of their achievements from '04 to '07.

Scroll down here for the expected Group Stage pots: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2009.html

What's also scary is that if Italian teams don't do well next year, the German Bundesliga will exceed the Italian league in rank and we will lose a CL spot.

This year's performance in CL for us, was our worst in the last 5 years, and we managed to get only 11 something points for uefa coefficient, not surprising since we only managed to win 2 games out of 8 in the CL.

As a result we are now in the second pot in Uefa rankings, a couple more years of this and we would be in the 3rd.

Problem is now we will get a really big team in our group, like ManU, Barca or Chelsea, and then probably a very decent team from the 3rd pot. And since our manager thinks that CL begins in Febuary, there is a good chance we will get eliminated before that.

Thats scary. But with Milan and Juve also back there, we can expect a stronger fight by Italy. Juve's squad is already better with Diego. Inter are expected to strengthen. I don't know how Milan will do but at least they will have a fresh take with a new manager.

Three Italian teams should proceed to the second stage. Fiorentina don't probably have much chance, it's good if they can make it even to the group stage (because of the new qualifying system, they got drawn against other big league's non-Champions: Arsenal, Lyon, Donetsk, Sporting, Panathinaikos).

But yeah, next season must go well for Italians, since German is really coming from behind. Their good success in Uefa Cup has caused this situation.

Its actually quite strange. This would suggest that Italian sides are better. German sides are dominating the UEFA cup since they get eliminated from CL. While Italian sides make the second round of CL and then get eliminated. As a result they are not eligible even for the UEFA cup.

If Uefa performances of sides thrown out of CL is a criteria, it is a screwed up criteria then.

Well not really because the Italian teams also do shitty in the UEFA Cup.

I cannot imagine how Serie A is going to look like if Ibra and Kaka leaves. Bundesliga is going to overtake Serie A for sure if both of them leaves.

Milan and Inter would get superstars from other leagues anyway.
Eto'o, Aguero etc..

Aguero is impossible. So is Tevez and Ribery, Fabregas.

Players like Eto'o, Adebayor won't improve Serie image.

So Leonardo as our rival coach next season, eh? Any chances of him puling a Guardiola?
Guardiola was a loyal servant for Barelona for so many years, he's been at Barca since he was a little child. So it's not exactly the same with him, he knew everything about the club, he was well respected and most of all he was born catalonian.
Also, he won titles a lot (a few in Europe, too), so he knows what it takes.

Too bad we miss the "Maximum number of home goals scored" and "Minimum number of home goals conceded". It would be fuller. Good season tho.
