The management is doing the right thing here. He's 33 and he's looking a raise? 4.5m is more than enough for a player his age. We have gosens. If he doesn't want to accept, no problem.Do you need any more confirmation that we are run by idiots?
We've been giving him a 4.5m offer since January and he's been sitting on 6m offers ever since...
And even bought a player as a direct replacement!
Word. It's actually one of the few things they did right. Perisic's been one of our best players this season but we have to remember he's not been like this the past few seasons, even when he was playing in his natural position. He's 33 and already one of our highest earners. But still he wants a pay rise?! To me it's a way of saying he wants out.The management is doing the right thing here. Hes been great, but it's too risky for such a contract at his age
5 years younger + forwards always get more then wingbacks. But offering Dybala the rumoured 6 million per annum is money better spent?
Dybala plays a position where we need a big update with only 1 good player playing in the same position when the formation requires 2But offering Dybala the rumoured 6 million per annum is money better spent?
Two years iirc around 5M quid a yearHow much salary have we offered 35 years Dzeko?
Different position, they need a wingerso juve cant keep dybala, but offering perisic 6m/y ?
Accidental luxury? Let's not act like Perisic wasn't one of our best players since the beginning of season, gosens was never gonna bench himPerisic benching Gosens was an accidental luxury this season. I think the mgmt struck the deal in January to avoid being in a sticky situation in the summer of replacing an aging and perhaps declining wing back. Nobody expected Perisic to be so good this season - I mean, not too long ago he was (rightfully) considered a one-trick donkey.
Technically, after the season he's had, he definitely deserves a raise. But at the same time it is completely rational for the mgmt to decline it given that we have a WC wing back ready since months as his replacement.
Yes and no. Everyone would ask for a raise after the beast months he had. On the other hand you may(or maybe not) expect from players who say they love Inter etc some realistic view. And that would be we are in a financial mess and maybe he shouldn't want to ask that 6M that's been reported. The management is doing the right thing here. Sure he can ask for a raise. Everyone can. But you also won't find many teams that give a raise to a 33-year old. Personally i can't think of any. When 33-year old Ronaldo asked for a raise Real sold him to Juve. 33-year old Lewandowski asks for a raise but Bayern's response is a straight nein. There's a reason for that. Risk is simply too high. If Perisic can find 6m elsewhere good for him. But club also needs to think about the future. When Zhang comes and asks for a wage cut and we're forced to sell a starter with many years ahead of him (Skriniar, Bastoni, Barella, Lautaro) because of it we're going to regret giving 6m to a 33-year old.
