I always manage to win something in first season, and there's always a news report (heavily paraphrasing) :"Silverware could keep Zanetti" or something like that, so it might have to do something with winning.

His last injury, IIRC, was in the first match of 05/06 against Treviso @ the Meazza. It was quite bad and I think he missed 1 or 2 or 3 months. Other than that, I think he was rested by Mancini for a few matches in 06/07 or 07/08 but that was basically it.

Plus a small precautionary rest I think last season, after he was struck by the ball in his chest, the match against Palermo. After the game he complained of chest pain etc.
