Maybe not a grandpa. But yes overpaid, old and injured. Apparently his new contract is 1.9 net. gonna cost us nearly 4mil. You think he should be paid that considering he won’t be fit for months and will never be the same player, and also our ridiculous financial situation, also ignoring the fact how much he has declined in the last 2-3 years and considering he does not fit into Mazzarri formation. And please, with the type of mentality of most people here in FIF, that he can do what he wants just because he is a legend in stupid. That will destroy us on the pitch and cost off huge money off it. That mentality in business will destroy you and sadly is what is happening all over this club. That sort of kindness is good for running a retirement home, but not a football club.

Overpaid. Old. Injured. I agree.

But what you are not getting is that Zanetti is Inter's greatest ever legend. I don't even need to go into what he has done for Inter, and the many times he stuck with us instead of following the money - because everyone here knows all that. He has a job at Inter for life, and I cannot think of anyone else who deserves it more. Basically what I am getting to is that we won't save 4m when he retires - he will still be paid as a director and/or brand ambassador of Inter.

Sure I have a problem with how much Inter overpay the players and directors and everyone else. Milito on 9m gross. Cuchu on 8m gross. Fucking Silvestre on 3m gross. God only knows how much we pay people like Figo, Branca, etc. Inter's wage bill is a mess. Its not just Zanetti who is overpaid.

Jimmer has a good point even though the choice of words is harsh towards our capitan. No need to bash him I'm sure he's an Inter fan and wants us to success again, calling him racist or some shit like that is stupid. Just like worshiping Zanetti is accepted on here, the opposite should be accepted aswell from our own fans. I've seen WAY worse attacks from other members towards other legends on daily basis which never lead to the same replies. No player is above the club and ANY player can be judged, some people need to realize that.

No one is saying that Zanetti is beyond criticism. But if you take up an agenda against Zanetti in an Inter forum, you are crossing a line.

How come everytime this comes up people always say that we have to stop ''treating him like a god''. Nobody is doing that ffs. We're saying that despite being 39 and injured he still has a role to play in the squad this season and considering this is his first major injury I have a lot of faith that he will recover to a good standard. Christ.

What role? We don't play with FBs anymore, and he has no room in the midfield either. I honestly can't see how he would be useful under Mazzarri. And there's nothing wrong with people treating him like god, yeah, some people do that. But there's nothing wrong with criticism either. As for the other guy, what if his agenda will be proven true soon? Would it then be ok? Maybe he sees things better than we do because he actually lives there. I'm not saying it's true, I agree his choice of words was harsh & yet it's a democratic forum.

It's doesnt matter if he is biggest Inter legend or not, if he isn't good enough and we clearly cant afford, then he should be asked to leave. Be serious with yourself, he has no place in Mazzarri formation. Thats the problem with people here, 'he is a legend, he can do what he wants' that is what I am discussing, when has that attitude been good for a football club or any business, never.

And about giving legends a management role, I hope Thorir is intelligent about who he give a management role, not everyone legend should be given a management role, although it is clear that Zanetti deserves that, but I honestly dont see him bringing any good ideas, considering his so called 'scouting and recommendation' which has failed. I hope he becomes a brand ambassador, so he has little decision making in management, but can be a great influence and atrraction to interistas over the world like Figo.

The overpaying culture was due to bad leadership from the management (mainly Moratti), which I hope is the first issue that Thorir tackle both in the players and management department. In the management no1 should be paid that crazy money, legend or not. I am not just picking on Zanetti, over the overpaying part.

No one is saying he can do what he wants. Jay-Zee is a model professional, he will do what the coach wants. If Mazzarri prefers Zanetti over Jonathan, that is his choice. If you ask me, Zanetti will probably still be more useful than Jonathan 5 years from now.

And it matters that he is the greatest Inter legend. It matters to me, it matters to millions of Inter fans like me. If the coach makes him warm the bench, I am ok with that. If the club tells him to retire, I am ok with that too. But it matters to me that Brand Zanetti is always a part of Brand Inter.

The Brand ambassador role is a no-brainer. There cannot be a better one for Inter. What other ways Zanetti can help Inter after he retires, there is plenty of time for Inter and Zanetti to figure that out.

The key thing here is that Zanetti will still be in Inter's payroll long after he retires. So Inter will not save that 3.8m in wages completely when he retires, maybe half of that (not sure what we pay people like Figo or Branca, but its probably close to a million net). If you want to talk about Inter wasting money, we need to focus on the likes of Milito, Cuchu, Silvestre, Chivu, etc.

I know this might be hard to find, but do you know how much the people in management get paid? 1 mil net for most seems a bit too much.

In this current team, only Zanetti should stay after he retires. Traffic officer can be a youth team coach if he wants, but not in management.

----

Good enough to be part of the squad? Maybe if were going for a midtable finish. He aint a RWB/LWB anymore, not a RCB/LCB. And certainly cant play in CM/DM.

You guys make it seem like Inter keep the same coach and formation for more than a few months. When Zanetti comes back he will be played in midfield at some stage whether you like it or not.

Everybody needs to chill. Zanetti many times last year, played really well. Inter is a prestegious team and we can't completely disregard arguably our biggest legend ever. Loyalty still means something to this day. When you have a player like Zanetti, or Maldini, or gerrard, or giggs, you have to handle them with care as they get older. If you shit on your legends, you will lose the prestige over time of being one of the greatest clubs ever. Also, lets not forget that there were times in Zanetti's career that he could have probably walked for another team, with higher wages, and greater prestige, but he didn't.

I agree he is overpaid and old, but lets not act like all, or even most, of our wage and financial problems are because of him.

What is so special about him to be treated differently?

I was hoping to hear this question from my grandson many decades from now. Did not expect to hear this from an Inter fan so early in my lifetime. So I am sorry, I haven't prepared the long answer yet. Here is a short one:

Zanetti defines Inter. He is Inter, more than anyone else. Ever.

This is basically an emotional reaction, not a logical one. In terms of goals scored, goals prevented, or inspiring the team in the last two seasons, or the assists he provided, I don't see any reason for keeping him.

Depends if in the last game we have no more goals, ok , otherwise no, inter interests always before every players interests

RONALDO & CHINO
Happy birthday Javier 'Il Capitano' Zanetti, one of the biggest legends that have worn our jersey. Has told 'no' more often to Real Madrid then that Ibra transferred to another team. Has seen big stars like Ronaldo, Chino, Ibra, Vieri, Maicon, Adriano, Julio and Pirlo ( and many more) come and go. Shows more passion & emotion for the club then anyone else who has played for the club since my birth (1998). No matter how bad you fuck up you will still be considered as one of my role-models. No matter howmany times I hear the song 'Forever Young' I will still see you dribbling like a motherfucking tractor.:proud::proud:. Enjoy your 40th birthday and may the color of the sky and the night bless you
