So he's even more of an AM, than a right winger.

Sporting played the same setup as Portugal towards the end of Euro 2016, 4-1-3-2. To me this almost ends up being a 4-4-2 diamond. So the outside midfielders can be considered wingers I guess...I always considered them RM or LM.

CAM: 9 times

CM in a 4-1-4-1: 1 time
CM in a 4-4-2: 1 time

So he does hot really have that much experience as a holding midfielder like we see in a 4-2-3-1. He would probably be better suited as the AM behind Icardi. Maybe the plan is to use both Brozovic and Joao Mario together? One at AM and the other at RW? Both can play those positions.

Suning Group and Inter Milan are trying to close the purchase of Joao Mario with super agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian trying to accomplish the mission. According to Gazzamercato.it, the goal is to close the deal with a 35 million euro basis, expandable to 40 with the bonus, with Sporting Lisbon. Inter have already the deal with the player for a five-year contract.

Suning want to close everything before Chinese transfermarkt deadline, scheduled for tomorrow, with Jiangsu Suning purchasing the Portuguese player before sending him to Inter Milan on loan: there's optimism among the parties.

Quaresma had already failed at barca. There was always a risk that he would repeat that.

As for the price that people are complaining about. Market is totally inflated.

Has soponara won a euro and been chased by chelsea and psg as well...Kova went for 29 million last summer and he has done less than joao mario..

40mio seems like to much no doubt about that. But it has to be said that i was intrigued whenever i saw him play at the Euros. He was not outstanding in any aspect of his game but he did everything very well, he passed nicely has good technique and seems to be a very tactical player(i.e. he rarely was in the wrong spot). That being said i think he could develop into an absolute monster if developed right. Also as some already mentioned i dont think it would have been possible to get a player of his caliber for less than 35mio.

My biggest problem with this deal is that he seems to be to identical to Brozo as in they occupy the same spots on the field. with Joao being the player with more flair to his game and Brozo the more hardworking one. Imho there will only be enough playing time for one of them to properly develop and I m not sure who has the higher ceiling out of the two.

Also i still dont believe we can purchase him through suning unless there are some huge loop holes in the FFP. The only way this would make sense is if we don t purchase him directly because of cash flow considerations and not P&L reasons. If sporting wanted the money up front and we did not have it, but we would be able to cover amortization costs plus wages without running a loss, would be the only reason to do this transfer over china. This way we would baisicaly get an interest free loan from suning which would be payed back through loan fees and the eventual purchase price.
