On top of all this - supporting your team doesn't have to equal acting like an idiot and attacking/insulting your opponent. Especially when the attacks are discriminatory or just lack any objective reasoning for it. It shows a lack of class.

Oddly the hardcore crowd in many cases tends to end up being like this. This tends to be the general trend whenever you run into hardcore fans of most clubs.

Unfortunately it seems to have become a growing concern for Inter - atmosphere or moral integrity.

It's not really that odd. Lots of these guys are part of an Ultras group because they can be part of a social group physically.
These can very easily become gangs and units that have specific political or ideological identities. So once you're in, you just follow the flow, not really challenging what's going on around you.

italy needs to implement english style regulation around stuff like this. banning sections of the . stadium for a match or two is meaningless. you need to ban people from football related activities for life.

It's hard to do such a thing when the country is half mildly racist, half doesn't care one way or another.

I mean, I agree with you. It's just that I don't see it happening anytime soon, given that the people don't push for it.

If and when the TV revenues abroad will suffer really hard from this, it will be the time the problem will be eradicated.

I don't think Italy is more racist than the UK by the way. It's simply that in the UK racism has moved from the stadium (where it is severely banned) to the social media.

In the past, the problem with hooligans in the UK was so big, that at some point the government said: "enough is enough". But of course I cannot wish for deadly accidents to happen, in order to get rid of ultras.

Ah here we go Brehme the apologist, yes of course it's "a cultural thing", female genital mutilation is also a cultural thing but we have enough common sense to ban it, these troglodytes need to evolve or stop going to the stadium. Culture doesn't mean you can discriminate against others, racism is a problem in Italy and it's increasing with the Lega slowly becoming the biggest party.

A football game is real life, you are in public, you are in the outside world and there are vulnerable people present. The football stadium is not your living room, just because the Curva make a few choreographs you have no right to act like a complete tool. The Curva does not own Inter, they are not an integral part of the club, they are ruining Inter's image around the world and even last year they even turned against the fans, it's disgusting.

The statement had some wonderful gems though to summarise for everyone it's "I'm not racist but" and they managed to add the lovely phrase "I have a black friend."

Racism has no place in football, especially at a club called Internazionale ffs. :einstein: Other clubs can do whatever the fuck they want, but the whole premise of this club is that we're "brothers of the world", we were and should be on the forefront of battling racism in Italy.

From what i am seeing here Italy doesn't care about Racism and football matches are war so anything goes as far as chants and insults.

I miss the good old days when Barbara Berlusconi loved bukakke.

Edit: actually that's sexist... :chan:

Are we being dicks? If we don't stand against Barbara or any other insult and just stand against racism... What are we? Double standard cucks?

Hm....

It's probably for the best to hate women and minorities equally - that way nobody can claim that you discriminate.

Fair enough that foreigners like me will never fully understand Italian culture. I still think it's naive to say that racism has historically not been an issue in Italy.

Either way, Inter has set itself apart from mainstream Italian culture in many ways, starting with their name and now with #BUU and Not for Everyone. I hope they will release a statement distancing themselves from the position taken by L’Urlo della Nord.

Ok but that's not Eddie Murphy

If Inter publicly distance themselves from this message from the Ultra's. Inter will gain alot of respect, and they can start to become frontrunners against racism. Atleast we as Interisti (most of us) will have something to be proud about.

I agree but how often do clubs openly distance themselves from their fans? Legit question here, can anyone think of a recent case? Not openly going against a small group of people but curva as a whole?

Lol and I thought that was so meta :yao:

Don't you dare remove your thanks  Not my fault I'm not as clever as you were lead to believe

Good question, Sometimes you need to start a conflict in order for change to happen.
Curva have a long history with fascism. I can imagine it cannot be undone in a few weeks or with a few penalties..

The best thing to do imho is to just ignore these people. They are not worth the time spent discussing about them.
