FIF Special Ones
Was anyone else scrolling down Pajo's post and expecting a giant Pandev face picture at the bottom?

AO3OBA is Vodka isn't it?

Лозова :p

And no, it's far from vodka. It's more of a brandy, scotch, depending if it's yellow or white, as we call it. Though, much stronger, and yeah, it fucks your liver  I dont like the white one, but Жолта Лозова, (Yellow Lozova Rakija), is just :slick:

Han, my sister in law and her fiancee just came back from a month in Indonesia...They raved about it, loved the food, spent most of their time on isolated stretches of beaches and surfed all day...I think they're actually considering living there

They did mention something I was curious about that I thought you might have better understanding of...They were saddened to experience incredible amounts of plastic and garbage drifting onto the shores in Sulawesi...Is this a problem that is getting addressed or has this been going on for a long time?

i believe sulawesi your sister in law said is Bunaken,Manado right?
it's sad to say this, but many of indonesian people are ignorant about that. They throw the garbage anywhere, anyplace like there's no bin.

There are a lot of people go against that, but it seems take some time to change those ignorant.

How f***ing steep are those hills? Is it possible to walk on them at all? Looks like the jungle would need a machete to get through! Its beautiful, but since I love walking through the woods I don't know if this would be the place for me :)

I just got back from Bali 3 weeks ago, just before ASEAN summit and obama visit, to attend my sister's wedding. Traffic in Kuta and surrounding area such as Legian and Seminyak, especially on weekend, is almost the same like Jakarta. Traffic jam everywhere :palm:

Have any of you guys (especially Indonesian) travel to Raja Ampat, Papua? I heard it's a beautiful island and also great place for diving.

I'm pretty sure they went to Manado. Sulawesi is bigger than Switzerland so you gotta be more specific. :D I've never been to Manado personally so I can't really give the most accurate comment.

But since it's a pretty isolated city, in a still-developing country, then yes, you can expect all the cliche problems. Garbage, cronyism, corruption, nepotism, incompetence, bla bla bla. Some of the Indonesian cities have actually improved in terms of cleanliness though. Like my city (Surabaya), who voted a new mayor 1-2 years ago; she was a former minister of forestry or flora or flower or whatever and she has really cleaned up the city well.

So I can't say for sure if they will eventually address that problem. Cleanliness/environment/hygiene is never a major national issue though in our country, it will have to depend a lot on the local officials which I really have no clue about.
