I used to be amazed by how good he was but I got sick and tired of the Ronaldo Messi debate. Then the sickening fanboys, teammates and media who just fawn over him. I also find it difficult as he has basically been a champions league irrelevance since 2015. He has amazing longevity but in my opinion not at the highest level. Beating up on mostly rubbish until the quarter finals of the wc doesn't make him a ballon d'or for me, but as has been said thousands of times the award is a joke in itself.

He is one of the greats and history will remember him as probably the greatest, especially after that world cup. However, the media and fanboys are too much. Ballon dor's are kinda meaningless because they have always favoured him blatantly even when other players with much better seasons and numbers deserved it. Ronaldo before the injuries (even after actually and they were all career ending stuff) has played against the best and toughest defenders of all time, at a time when refs didn't give too many shit. Maybe it's cuz I grew up with him, but as an adult it should make sense to me that Messi is better (it doesn't). It's a very lazy debate. In short, no Messi is not the goat. there's no such thing
