honestly i'd be surprised if it ever came down to the clause. Realistically, City and Barca will agree a fee which gives Barca good plusvalenza, saves them Messi's wages, and avoids any legal hassle. If people are talking like Bernando Silva + Gabi Jesus + Whoever else, Barca should fucking bite their hand off. I think its a ludicrous offer for Messi, personally.

What people fail to understand is Messi doesn't choose Manchester. He chooses Pep. If Pep left City tomorrow, Messi wouldn't be interested in a move to City anymore.

exactly

& from what we can piece together in the media, it sounds like he wants to win more trophies before he retires. If he wanted to be part of a project rebuild, he could stay at Barca. His chances of winning the CL are higher at City than Inter in the next few years. Realistically, he's more likely to win it at Barca than Inter too.

It's a mega shame because I think he could make a bigger impact than in the Premiership, in Seriee A, but eh.

I don't believe a second City would offer Barcelona a package of Jesus + Silva + bucket loads of money.

no, agre,e it doe seem a bit insane

but if Man City are putting together a package that hits about the 200m mark - however that is constituted - it will make a BIG difference for Barca. It's 100% plusvalenza, so it basically will offset griez, dembele, coutinho, already. Messi's + Suarez save them like another 100m next season too, so suddenly they look in a really good position. If anything, it'd let them take some minusvalenza on dembele and coutinho if they want to offload them and focus on rebuilding.

We'll see eh

Why people already dismiss the posibility that this is yet another power play from Messi and he'll stay in the end??

Yes and no. I don't think it's a power play but I do think in the end he'll stay at Barca, regardless of whether Bartomeu resigns (he won't). Ultimately, I think there'll be too many obstacles required to move Messi, both financial and legal.

Oh i think there's a substantial chance of messi staying tbh. Probably more than 30%. If you asked me right now I'd say 60% city 35% barca 5% inter/other

The best thing about this thread is knowing how Messi will feel living somewhere else than Barcelona.

KNOWING. Not speculating. KNOWING.

It's not about "knowing", it's about using the data available and coming to a conclusion when it comes to high profile players from Argentina moving that area. High profile because = they have the option of moving elsewhere if they push for it. Guys like Zabaleta, Otamendi (also miserable) and others have been lucky enough that their careers brought them to that level.

- Tevez: Hated the place.
- Di Maria: Still doesn't wanna hear about it.
- Aguero: Got divorced within months after moving there
- Veron: Despised the place; granted it was slightly different back then, but he couldn't get settled.

Messi is very close to both Aguero and Di Maria. Both have had negative experiences living there, Aguero is essentially trying to get assimiliated because he's become a club legend and his life was thrown away anyway, Di Maria jumped ship as soon as he could.

There's no evidence to suggest that Messi will get settled there, with his family. All prior evidence leads to the fact that high profile Argentineans suffer in their personal lives because of that career choice.

And for people claiming that he can just use a private jet while living elsewhere, lol. Just lol. You can do that once a week or something, it's not feasible to travel by private jet day in, day out. This isn't some fantasy world as much as it would appear such.

Pep or not, it's a terrible lifestyle choice for Messi. And he has many people in his environment to inform him of that if he's so unaware.

Theres's a rumour Leo will live by himself in Manchester to avoid uprooting his kids from Barcelona - seems difficult to believe considering how close they are as a unit but purportedly it is so he can focus on his career. Then if the contract details are accurate, would culminuate with 2 years in NYC in which case I could envision them having a nice place in Manhattan. Barcelona will always be home base though

Imagine if someone from north-west cannot even bare moving to the north. But that's not the real story, his family didn't want to move to Newcastle iirc but he was mostly living there. The helicopter was used by his family to visit him and attend his games.

The cost and logistics are entirely different between a helicopter and a jet. Just saying. I mean, at that pace you may tell us that he could live in a yacht in the Thames as well...

Sure the cost is very different but so is messis wealth....
Dont get me wrong im not suggesting he will live in Barcelona and fly over daily. But weekend commuting is a thing and if anyone can do it in comfort its him.

I don't see that as an option. Divorce incoming.

There are too many practical reasons for avoiding to make this move. There's not much to convince his family of a move there and if he wants to have a normal life for the remainder of his career, he should just abandon the efforts.

I think PSG has more odds of signing him but both us and them are waiting for the contract situation. Id say that Man City at the moment has the upper hand only because they are willing to give Barcelona any money, so they can be the only team who can officiall talk to him until that time.

People don't seem to grasp that these are people as well, have families and they're not just part of your video game transfer policies. You cannot just move Messi to freaking Manchester just because you can afford his salary.

And I am sure that the Abu Dhabi sheikhs have at least a few private jets available for Messi & his family

I'm sure but I am merely pointing out that the City owners will bend over backwards to accomodate Leo & his family

I dont want him.

There are no words for how good he is, i just dont want him. Since our duel with Barca in our treble season, i hate everything from them. He is spoiled. We havent seen that side of his yet too much, cos barca kept winning and winning, every time barca lost or argentina lost he makes a big deal about it, and just quits. He quitted from NT couple of times, he blames and blames and blames but never takes serious responsibility.

When his team loses he acts like a cunt on the field, kicking the ball to the fans, acting like everyone owns him shit...

Idk, i know this is unpopular opinion. But id rather we win with Tonali and Hakimi than with this cunt.

Business wise it makes all the sense in the world. It is just personal preference.

His 164mill insta followers, will put us on the map for years to come, generations of inter fans, etc...

Just personally to me, he and everyone that wore that barca jersey and were part of the xavi and iniesta generation, are bunch of self entitled pussy faggots.
