Lucas earns about 625K euros per year at São Paulo. If he's not sold, his agent will demand a new contract for him, possibly doubling that.

OMFG
People will say anything these days to justify the management's potential silly moves...
FFS, have you even seen Sneijder after Mourinho left? Complacency and whining all the time. He is also 100% ambivalent in his comments about staying or leaving.
...but still by a long margin, the best player we own and our most valuable.
I heard Moratti wanted to sell either him or Wes that summer. he was picked first, so he went. not like any fool would resist such an offer....Same was true of Eto'o. And when he found a significant wage increase he left so fast he even let us keep some of the money we owed him.
Strama said, the only unsellable player is Zanetti.
I'm stealing Michael's stuff but I don't care.
Moratti when asked about Lucas: “We’ll see, we’ll see… there is a challenging bidding war for the player but Inter are there. Let’s do it properly or not at all…”
And that's was part of the reason why we were so bad last year....but still by a long margin, the best player we own and our most valuable.
We have shit loads of money been saying that for 2 years! Quite frankly at this point I don't care anymore that Lucas is nowhere near his price tag in terms of quality if we can add him for any price do it. Beats adding new Palacios and similar crap any day of the week.
We will waste that money anyway so might as well get a bit of publicity in adding a over hyped Brazilian kid and burst kit sales. It actually might turn out to be a good business in some weird and non understandable way.
