Lucas earns about 625K euros per year at São Paulo. If he's not sold, his agent will demand a new contract for him, possibly doubling that.

Ok, so a wage of a little over 2m could be sufficient to have him agree on personal terms.

I can see some economic merit to this deal. Basically Get Lucas ==> Goodbye Sneijder. Assuming you agree with Lucas for 2.3m, that would mean the club could go up to 35m for transfer fee and he still would cost them 4m less than Sneijder per year.

So the options for our players behind milito are

Palacio - Sneijder - Coutinho OR Palacio - Coutinho - Lucas

with the second option being around 4m/year cheaper.

And this still doesn't consider the scenario where Anzhi tempt Sneijder to the point where he actually really wants to leave. Meaning it would actually be Goodbye Sneijder ==> get Lucas.

OMFG :palm:
People will say anything these days to justify the management's potential silly moves...

FFS, have you even seen Sneijder after Mourinho left? Complacency and whining all the time. He is also 100% ambivalent in his comments about staying or leaving.

...but still by a long margin, the best player we own and our most valuable.

Same was true of Eto'o. And when he found a significant wage increase he left so fast he even let us keep some of the money we owed him.

Strama said, the only unsellable player is Zanetti.

I heard Moratti wanted to sell either him or Wes that summer. he was picked first, so he went. not like any fool would resist such an offer....

I'm stealing Michael's stuff but I don't care.

Moratti when asked about Lucas: “We’ll see, we’ll see… there is a challenging bidding war for the player but Inter are there. Let’s do it properly or not at all…”

And that's was part of the reason why we were so bad last year.

We have shit loads of money been saying that for 2 years! Quite frankly at this point I don't care anymore that Lucas is nowhere near his price tag in terms of quality if we can add him for any price do it. Beats adding new Palacios and similar crap any day of the week.

We will waste that money anyway so might as well get a bit of publicity in adding a over hyped Brazilian kid and burst kit sales. It actually might turn out to be a good business in some weird and non understandable way.:D

Back in the old days when Uncle Moratti said those kind of things about a player you could bet your house that he is coming but now I would't be suprised if he ended up in Rome ;)

This is turning into a soap opera.
He's Brazilian. Everything is a soap opera in Brazil.

No, seriously, have you ever watched Globo TV there? It's nothing but wall-to-wall soaps every evening.

Hate Brazilian clubs, hate their presidents and hate their overpriced players...but you would all be liars to say you wouldn't be a little excited to see Lucas lining up on round 1 in black and blue :slick:

A bit of transfer theorycrafting here, but I was wondering whether Man United are still interested in getting Sneijder? Manchester seems like a destination Sneijder would be willing to accept. Manchester would get a star they have been trying to get for a while. And it would stop them from bidding on Lucas, and with the money we get we can finance the Lucas transfer.
