Gotta give props to Lucio, he is trying his best to make sure no one misses Burdisso.

No Milan player
I'd rather have Samuel and Chivu as CBs, both of them performed well whenever they played.

Walter Samuel,
he WAS, 2 years ago

lucio has been our best defender this season hands down

hands down?

Fair enough if you do think he's been the best, it's your opinion, but to say hands down is an unfair on Samuel, and Chivu aswell.

When Motta is fit, i'd like to see Zanetti moved to left back and Chivu to CB.

That's a bit unfair on lucio, admittedly his errors on tuesday were burdisso-ish, but apart from that game he's done a very good job this season.

Personally he has too many brain farts for a CB, very close to the same level as Burdisso.

In statistics terms, when it comes to Lucio, he comes with a high standard deviation.

Edit: Why is everytone talking about Lucio? The player has been amazing until now, even in the match that he screwed up in he managed an assist so i dont really understand where the critisicm is coming from because in all of his matches which us he has been great.

I wouldn't call him amazing. He's been good just like Samuel. But specifically he has fucked up in two situations which have led to goals (against Rubin and against Dynamo). He makes too much stupid moves compared to for example Cordoba-Samuel pairing couple of years ago. They were just rock solid, simply outstanding. Lucio-Samuel is very good, but they are not hands down rock solid.

Thats true but if you look everywhere in the world there has never been a defender who hasnt made any mistakes.

Walter Samuel,
My point was that Lucio isn't bad. He's played very well with us, i just don't think his purchase was all that necessary though.

It wasnt but he is one of the best out there, he gives our defence strength and hight and even though it shouldnt be a something in a defender, he is very good going forward and in corners so he adds a different dimension to our defence. Also we didnt pay that much for him really.

Exactly, that was what Mou was looking for in the summer, a ball playing defender. There's none in our team other than Chivu, and his ball playing skills is no where near Lucio's.

I don't know whether it is worth it to sacrifice defensively just because of that though. But so far, I don't think it is quite worth it, it seems like Lucio has made more mistakes defensively than he contributed in the offensive department.

Lucio was awesome in the second half today. Such a passionate player, I'm happy he's playing for Inter.

I keep wondering, what "flat chest" are Goal.com talking about Lucio?

I think Lucio is similar to John Terry at Chelsea, but as mentioned before with high SD as far as defence is concerned. He has physical presence, a good set pieces player and can advance when required.
Most importantly he is committed and plays with passion, the sort of players that Jose Mourinho likes.

He is the only player i remember who can be both the man of the match and the reason for a defeat....:p Great match by him yesterday but if he had missed the ball in one of those advancing actionts we would probably take a goal because they were asking only for those counter attacks movements.

Yeah, he has taken a few in Inter with pretty good results, not quite like that though!
