We don't have NO option for him, right? First refusal, buyback, anything? :(

Fuck gazetta. If he was owned by inter I'm sure they'd find a way to put him on the most disappointing youngsters list. But now they crown him and put him number one so they can still get their dig in.

Our track record in terms of youth development and youngsters in general is abysmal. That's why we have no promising youngsters. We either leave them on the bench behind Guarin or loan/sell them away... so we can buy wingers to play at full back or in the center of thew midfield.

If Benassi were at Inter today he certainly would be on a Most Disappointing list just due to the fact that he'd be getting no playing time. It's not Gazetta's fault that their editors don't swoon over Primavera game performances but instead judge based on what they see on the senior level.

Don't worry though we'll probably end up buying him again soon at a profit to Torino and bench him again. Biabiany style.

Benassi is certainly one that got away. Unlike Bonucci who developed after Inter sold him, Benassi showed great potential at Inter - I am sure all of us remember his good performances during his debut season. He certainly took me by surprise that season, and as a kid showed great maturity and the right intensity - which is so rare in a 18 year old in Italy.

I am afraid, we have only ourselves to blame here if/when he becomes a top midfielder. Loaning him made sense, but selling him for 5m was moronic.

The most annoying part of this is that RCM is a position where we currently can't seem to find a good enough option. However I agree had he been here odds are he wouldnt play. Especially since we already have a relatively young guy in Kondogbia in the midfield 3.

I still remember him playing as a RB in one of our painful games in that painful season, still did a job though.

Both points are true. We're horrible at developing youngsters, regardless of their potential (see Kovacic). But also, fuck GdS. There was this big shit a few years back where Moratti said that Gazzetta had 'changed alliances' and called for Interisti to boycott their paper. Might have been overly dramatic but I do think that since that point, they've been ridiculous and far less credible.

I remember Taïder having an amazing game against juve where he single-handedly nullified the impact of Pirlo and Vidal and the next day Gazzetta gave him a 4/10. And though he's been inconsistent, according to GdS, Kondogbia has been the worst player on the pitch in 4 out of the 6 matches so far. That's just indisputably wrong. Granted, these are just two examples, but I recall much of the same and being annoyed to read their previously very astute ratings which at some point just turned to bullshit and unrealistically critical - most notably, of our youngest or most 'vulnerable' players. I remember GdS giving Kovacic scores like 4/10 for having quiet games while Guarin would get 6's after putting in performances which were so bad they would turn nuns into murderers.

I'm the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist but even I've had the occasional thought pop up in my mind that it wouldn't surprise me if GdS were trying their best to subtly sabotage or undermine us.

I remember Palacio getting the man of the match award after doing the equivalent of sitting in the centre circle for the entire match apart from poaching a goal.

I wanna cry now :( Benassi, Duncan, Coutinho... and who's next? Gnoukouri? Bonazzoli? Puskas? While we are begging for lazy-ass Toure and negotiating 30m 30yo Biglia? Or worst case, most likely sticking with Medel/ Melo??
I still remember some years ago I argued with a guy about using Mudingayi or developing Duncan.
This untrust of our own youth makes me sick. Great academie means nothing with this kind of development.

Can't wait to read that we want him back after Euro, and Torino will want nothing less than 15-20 M for him :interflag: Another well done for Inter Management of youth players.

This guy would be rather useful given the new regulations. I'm going to laugh in a few seasons time when none of our decent former primavera players want to play for us so our squad will have four Berni-like players.

Gnoukouri will be the next one to excel elsewhere

Zhang's Ok
Tbh it's not like he was killing it, if anything his call up would suggest Italy's situation in regards to lack of great talents is quite bad.

That's true. He wouldn't be any more than a squad player here, but a useful squad player he would be.
