What kind of pussies are you? Of course it's totally acceptable to provoke your opponents on the pitch. I think Materazzi is hugely respected within the Azzurri squad. Player who can provoke opponents best player and captain to get red card in the World Cup final is very respected team mate.

You guys can't be so lame to ignore the fact that players provoke each others all the time on matches all over the world. Materazzi did what needed to be done. To get that total idiot Zidane explode. :D

Exactly!

And until Zidane himself makes such allegations I'm not believing any of this sh*t (well maybe I won't even after he does :D)!

Look, I don't want to speak too soon or anything. Like I said, I hope it's nothing and it was just trash talk.

However, if it was racial, then this is not acceptable provokation. Players do provoke each other, but there is a line you don't cross.

I guess Materazzi would risk having the greatest player sent off to win the WC. Yes it must of hurt Materazzi deep down inside :)lol:) but lifting the WC made it all better.

Cheer up Zidane, even if France would've gone out in the group stage your legacy would've never been tarnished.

Wonder if I can
Guardian:

Materazzi, who like Zidane has also had a chequered disciplinary record, refused to comment on the incident. The Internazionale defender walked through the press area playing music loudly and ignored requests for interviews.

I'm going To actually defend Materazzi :| Firstly he didn't even touch Malouda, clearly a dive. Secondly no matter what Materazzi said to Zidane their is no excuse for the way he reacted! You would have to think on the field these players hear every possible insult. So I really don't care if he made a racial slur or a comment on his mother. Trash Talking is part of the game and Zidane obviously has a short temper

I'm talking no shit. Almost every game would end without 11 vs 11 on the pitch if players couldn't hold themselves of ignoring opponents provocations and taunts. Materazzi did the right thing to warm opponents best player.

The lie that Materazzi racially abused Zimerdane was launched by a known British left-wing gutter rag Gruniad and later picked up by their fellow gutter rats from Oz. It has about as much credibility as trensfer rumours from Tuttosport regarding Juve.

MATERAZZI OLE'!!!!

UP THERE IN THE SKY
"THE USUAL MATERAZZI"
by LUIGI GARLANDO - translated by Frisko

Yesterday Zidane tried to win the world cup, but he lost it and he ended his career with a headbutt.

We are the champions! It all started with Materazzi, it all ended with Grosso. People who never had the big titles in the papers like Totti or Del Piero, but who are symbol of the hard work and sacrifices made by the Italian squad in Germany.

Matrix, in his dna, is the leader of the pack. He has a spirit in the dressing room that sometimes has betrayed him in the past. But if he suspects one of his guys has been mistreated, it kicks in. Actually it even kicks in if the person who's been mistreated is not one of his guys.

No other member of the Italian camp has spoken in De Rossi's defence after the elbow incident. When Totti got injured, Materazzi wore a t-shirt to express his support for the national team's teammate.

Yesterday he was entering the French penalty area seeking revenge, after he conceded the penalty. Not a big foul, not a big deal, but the penalty was fair.

Materazzi knew what people would say, "The usual Materazzi". Just as they said it after the unfair red card against Australia.

Materazzi has been fighting against that sentence, "The usual Materazzi", for the whole of the World Cup. Even after he proved to be a great substitute for the injured Nesta, and the important goal against the Czechs.

He knew that people would say, "A clean player like Nesta wouldn't have made such a mistake".

So he jumped. He jumped 10 centimeters higher than Vieira. "It's my hunger that pushes me that high", he said after his goal against the Czechs.

He ran, drunk with joy, looking at the sky above Berlin and whispering, "Mum"; his heart was hungry for that person who's passed away. And that hunger pushes you higher than anything else.

Materazzi scored in the final of the World Cup, just like Zidane did in 98.

Zidane, nervous for this 'outrage' lost it completely and with a headbutt floored Materazzi, writing a terrible final chapter in the wonderful book of his career.

If Materazzi had done that, they would have said, "The usual Materazzi".

After gifting Italy an 11 against 10 spell, Materazzi scored his penalty with supreme calm and confidence.

From now on, when he'll score or he'll be decisive, don't be afraid to say, "The usual Materazzi".

That was a great article Frisko, it truly captures the way we feel on this whole Materazzi thing. If it was Materazzi who had given the headbutt to Zidane, and if Zidane made a racial comment like "Go eat some pasta you ****" then people would've said Zidane is so sly and he's so smart to have gotten Materazzi red carded etc.

Definetly the most passionate Italian on the team along with Gattuso.
