He doesn't fit Mazzarri's system though. That's the problem. Give him players behind him that will give it it to him at his feet, and give him options in front of him so he isn't marked by multiple men and he would flourish here. Instead we'll probably get occasional glimpses of his talents and nothing more.

If we're lucky we'll see the best of him when he get a new coach in a few years time who plays 4-2-3-1. It's perhaps feasible that Mazzarri might play a 3-4-1-2 system in the future which doesn't just involve switching the ball to the wings constantly, but even then his midfield support will be Guarin and Cambiasso and neither will be able to supply the type of ball he needs on a regular basis.

Watched only highlights, and some comments on sites/forums, he was Croatians best player. Got an assist after dribbling past 4 players. Had great chance after dribbling past 4 players as well, had great shot, but the GK saved it somehow.

yes let's play the players who fit the system(get Schelotto back blivious and bench the ones with the most potential and be mediocre for the next couple of years

Kovacic can fit to any sistem in any position in the midfield.

I said it in the summer and i didn't changed my mind - he's our best player with no doubt. Huge potential, can be one of the greatest players that ever played for this club, and we only need to be patient with him.

Well, he hasn't shown that as of yet though.

I don't think he needs much to succeed, but he needs the ball at his feet, and needs space in front of him. For some reason that has been too much for him to ask for so far

Mazzarri gave him so many chances? Taider and Guarin played much more than him. Kovacic need's to play where Cambiasso playing, Like Pirlo in Jube. He's still very good as side midfielder or AMF, but as a playmaker he's fantastic.

Kovacic is perfect for Mazzari's system in the attacking sense. Mazzari wants team to lie really deep, and then counter attack. Who better to bring the ball from deep dribbling and give a final assist in a counterattack?

The only thing he's missing is physicality, which I hope will come with time. Last game he had more tackles than any other player on the field, which is an encouraging sign.

Also another what a run...mamma mia....He really REALLY needs to improve his finishing. If he scored this his market value would have doubled, and our t-shirt revenue would have increased by 100%.
