I believe we've been linked with him enough to warrant a thread here.
Does anyone know this guy? Maybe rfu can tell us what kind of footballer he is?
He was struggling a lot at Dortmund also due to the fact he didn't have a fixed position but instead they were using him wherever there was a need (CB, RB, DM). There's also the possibility he wasn't ready to handle the pressure of a top club as he left Freiburg to join Dortmund at a very young age.
He has turned things around at Gladbach where he mostly plays as a CB/RCB and he was even a starter in Germany under Jogi Low. He isn't a starter now as Flick has switched to a back 4, he's behind Rudiger and Sule in the pecking order and Flick prefers more attacking options for rb.
He has been very solid defensively, very consistent, he has great passing and he has been one of the best CBs of the league. He is never going to be a leader but we don't need one. We need someone we can count on when one of our starting CBs is unavailable and Ginter is perfect for this role.
With the exception of Kone and Hofmann, the whole team is a mess so it's hard to judge anyone based on this season. Till last year Ginter was a quality cb and very consistent. If we're bringing him as a backup he would be a great signing. But if we're bringing him as a starting rcb (with Skriniar moved to the middle) i have my doubts if he is good enough. He definitely has the quality but he lacks in leadership and i don't know if he has the mentality to be a starter at a top club.
Here`s what he wrote back in November when I was telling Ginter is the best solution on a free:Does anyone know this guy? Maybe rfu can tell us what kind of footballer he is?
Ginter is a RCB. He lacks communication and commanding skills to play centrally. But he would be our best passer from the back. Maybe move Skrinair centrally then and Ginter to the right.
Close enough with the gif
With the amount of posts i have made on Bundesliga thread i feel insulted you didn't think of me.
I am not rfu but this is my opinion on Ginter:
I don't follow bundesliga but I remember this guy being hyped af few years ago. How good is he really? Worth the hype, lived up to his potential, failed or what?
Solid Rotation option.so, question, does Ginter mean De Vrij out for sure, or hopefully a good rotation option?

Hopefully not but tbh, I'm surprised if we sign player with 3.5m€ net salary to be a rotation option.so, question, does Ginter mean De Vrij out for sure, or hopefully a good rotation option?

Of course Sanchez and Vidal leaving will ease the salary budget but we've signed many new payraises (Barella, Lautaro, soon Brozovic). And if we want to keep De Vrij, he needs a new contract too, same applies to Skriniar.
The salary thing is the one which would suggest Ginter in, De Vrij out. Adding Bremer to this with modest salary would be optimal but I don't know if it's financially possible.
