I believe we've been linked with him enough to warrant a thread here.

Does anyone know this guy? Maybe rfu can tell us what kind of footballer he is?

With the amount of posts i have made on Bundesliga thread i feel insulted you didn't think of me. :pazzini:

I am not @rfU but this is my opinion on Ginter:

He was struggling a lot at Dortmund also due to the fact he didn't have a fixed position but instead they were using him wherever there was a need (CB, RB, DM). There's also the possibility he wasn't ready to handle the pressure of a top club as he left Freiburg to join Dortmund at a very young age.

He has turned things around at Gladbach where he mostly plays as a CB/RCB and he was even a starter in Germany under Jogi Low. He isn't a starter now as Flick has switched to a back 4, he's behind Rudiger and Sule in the pecking order and Flick prefers more attacking options for rb.

He has been very solid defensively, very consistent, he has great passing and he has been one of the best CBs of the league. He is never going to be a leader but we don't need one. We need someone we can count on when one of our starting CBs is unavailable and Ginter is perfect for this role.

With the exception of Kone and Hofmann, the whole team is a mess so it's hard to judge anyone based on this season. Till last year Ginter was a quality cb and very consistent. If we're bringing him as a backup he would be a great signing. But if we're bringing him as a starting rcb (with Skriniar moved to the middle) i have my doubts if he is good enough. He definitely has the quality but he lacks in leadership and i don't know if he has the mentality to be a starter at a top club.

Skriniar
I just wanted someone else to shine Drago but thank you!

So it's going to be interesting for what purpose we are interested in Ginter because if you say he is not good enough for a starter and the rumours about us selling De Vrij are true i'm afraid we're going to sell De Vrij and Ginter is his direct replacement.

If we moved Skriniar to the centre and Ginter on his place could it work for 1 season? With Barella and Dumfries/Darmian on the right the most important thing in our formation is that the RCB is very good in defense and not so much in attacking.

Here`s what he wrote back in November when I was telling Ginter is the best solution on a free:
Ginter is a RCB. He lacks communication and commanding skills to play centrally. But he would be our best passer from the back. Maybe move Skrinair centrally then and Ginter to the right.

Also in November Calciomercato.com wrote that his €3m-a-year salary is sustainable for the Nerazzurri who are reportedly in pole position to sign the 27-year-old at the end of the season.

FCIN: The German's request is 3.5 million per season, with the Nerazurri side not wanting to go beyond 2.5 million.

From his previous statements we know he`s not desperate for the money. Plus, he would surely prefer to join a top team to win some silverware in his career.

Shares the same agent as Çalhanoğlu => Ausilio & Marotta magic coming up, I`m 100% convinced Ginter will sign for Inter.

Real Barca Bayern maybe even Atletico will get this guy (I think).

He would be a welcome addition to our squad, especially for the fee I just feel with this economy clubs who seem "bigger" will snatch him.

Ginter is average until last season . When he selected Bundesliga team of season.

This year is fucking troll season for his team . Already lost against Freiburg 6-0

His position is same with Skriniar, as RCB, maybe his role is quality backup like Ranocchia in the middle.

From what I have read he is considered a squad signing. While if de vrij leaves Bremer is considered as the starting replacement target.

Bremer.reason he is good because Torino plays collective defense.where everybody is arm length of each other.that is not how inter plays inter have freedom like players say so there is so much space. Ginter is so much better because in attack league like bulli he had to rellyy on man to man and collective defense

Juventus Join Inter In The Race For Gladbach Defender Mathias Ginter On Free Transfer, Italian Media Report

Inter are set to face competition for the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach defender Mathias Ginter next summer in the form of Serie A rivals Juventus.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who report that the Bianconeri are also interested in signing the 28-year-old when he becomes available out of contract.

Inter have already made an offer to Ginter to join next summer on a free transfer now that he has officially announced that he plans to leave Gladbach at the end of June when his current deal expires rather than signing an extension.

However, the Nerazzurri will face competition for the German’s signature when he is out of contract with the Bundesliga club.

Juventus have now also emerged as major suitors for the defender in June, though it remains to be seen how serious their interest is in him and whether they would go head-to-head with Inter for him.

so, question, does Ginter mean De Vrij out for sure, or hopefully a good rotation option?

Hopefully not but tbh, I'm surprised if we sign player with 3.5m€ net salary to be a rotation option.

Of course Sanchez and Vidal leaving will ease the salary budget but we've signed many new payraises (Barella, Lautaro, soon Brozovic). And if we want to keep De Vrij, he needs a new contract too, same applies to Skriniar.

The salary thing is the one which would suggest Ginter in, De Vrij out. Adding Bremer to this with modest salary would be optimal but I don't know if it's financially possible.

We signed Sanchez on double that for rotation. But that was before covid.
