110m was BS - there was no actual offer for him at that sort of level, so it doesnt really mean much tbh
It wasn’t BS it was his a clause that would be accepted automatically by Inter. The fact nobody used it is another story.

Yeah there was a clause but its fucking immaterial if no one is willing to pay it. It's like messi on a 2 billion clause. Irrelevant.

Well, before Icardi became the turd he is now we all insisted that this clause was in fact super low, considering the market in which Harry Maguire goes for eighty mills. If he didn't stir shit up I'm pretty sure some team would've gladly triggered it.

no one's triggered it to date, there've not even been rumours of people triggering it.

his last season, even before the 'exclusion', wasnt a great one, I doubt it was going to raise his price much.

Let me give you an example:

Wobblz, you sign a contract that says if someone offers 1 million euros, you'll let them fuck you in the ass.

Do you really think anyone is gonna trigger that clause?

It's arbitrary. We all know you'd say yes for much less than that.

Strongly disagree with this. The majority of clubs with the financial power to trigger a 110 million clause aren't interested in playing the style of football that Icardi forces you to play when he's in the lineup. Icardi is best suited for Italian football, we should all agree on that - and since the clause was invalid for Italian clubs, there was never really a huge market for him.

English clubs would never want a striker like Icardi the way the style of football in their league has progressed. There's a reason why Icardi didn't cut it in Spain as a teenager (his lack of technical ability), which is one of the reasons Madrid and Barca were never interested in triggering the clause. So sure, maybe a Monaco or Atletico might have paid for him, but his possible destinations - even with a clause - were always limited.

Hindsight is 20/20, easy for you to have this argument in the aftermath of Icardi's idiocy. Even now, we've supposedly received offers up to 70M... Strange, innit?

It's arbitrary. We all know you'd say yes for much less than that.

Ha! Ha!

No one triggered the clause because Icardi didn't want to leave Inter. Club X contacts Wanda, asks for interest joining club X, she refuses, end of story. No clause triggering or anything.

Sure as hell there were inquires to Wanda if they wanted to change club last summer after that 29 goals season.

maybe, tbh, but what we have is history. we can argue about what ifs and maybes all we want, but what we do have is how it panned out

to be honest, i wouldnt be surprised if no one was interested. As ADRossi points out, Icardi massively limits your play style. And it's not a particularly modern play style. I Think a 'short-sighted' team might try to sign Icardi, but not loads of teams at the level who could afford him are that short-sighted. Maybe someone like United, but they persistently bitch about the cost of players being inflated in the last few years.

Napoli wanted him when they sold Higuain, Juve want him now. Atletico & Monaco that makes it 4 teams at least.

This is a player that even if he wasnt wanted should have been treated as a jewel that no one can have. Yes the clause is 110 but we are rejecting it. Oh your offering 60...thats too low will prob reject it but we will get back to you...then maybe we will do 60+ a player if ur broke or 80M paid in 2 years..see we are doing u a favor, 110M down to 80 and over 2 years, you can thank us later.

No statements, no media bullshit, no players crying over show comments, no instagram games, no former juve idiots thinking "they are whipping players into shape". Fuck out of here, how old are you, 200? and you are acting like a 5 year old in the press.

True, but you just can't compare a 110M clause to a 2B one... One is pretty achievable for a 26 year-old striker with 111 goals in 188 games. And let's not forget it's the club that inserted the clause to begin with and they wanted it to be even larger, so we ourselves valued him at that much. Just like we now value Skriniar to cost around that as well. Who knows, if nobody wants to buy him isn't he worth it? Also arbitrary.

By the way, such clauses are mandatory for some weird reason in Spain, for ALL players. Vidal's is 300M... Griezmann's is 800M and Messi's is actually 700M.

The Napoli offer for Icardi was fucking shit wasnt it? Like 30+Insigne or something? Even worse if I recall?

There's no actual solid evidence Juvem Atletico or Monaco really want him, but I'd hardly count Monaco as a big club, and Juve are trying to exploit the situation.

I really dont understand why people dont see how limited he is. He's a great goalscorer, but we looked better without him than with him (for a large part) of last season, and I'm excited to have some more all rounders this season up front to contribute towards the team. Our midfield retaining the ball around the box with a more all round striker will be very exciting.

Clauses are legally mandated in Spain, this is true.

The clause, I beleive, was demanded by Icardi's wife?

111 goals in 188 games ignores a lot of the 'context' around Icardi - it's kind of like the Van Nistelrooy vs Henry debate in the Premiership early 00s.

Alvaro Morata was bought twice respecitvely for 66 and 63M by two clubs...there is a market somewhere for him. Tottenham played the semi-final with Llorente. Man UTD practically had zero hitmen with Lukaku out of commission there.

The same fuckin# discussion!
City, United, Chelsea, Barca, PSG, Bayern and Juventus are the only clubs with financial power to pay over 100m for a player! Under circumstances Atletico or maybe Liverpool!
You need to check which team need a striker, then a striker with Icardi's characteristics and his baggage (Wanda' loud mouth)! I won't be surprised at all if any offer was made!

All this transfer fee talk is absolutely irrelevant to begin with. He's long amortised, except for his wages. Whatever money we make out of his sale are pure plusvalenza and you can't really lose money you never had, so whether we are selling him for 40M or 140M we are making pure profit. For all I care we should really bench him for two years just to fuck with him. I'm just saying that he used to have value and at least I considered him a top player.

Yeah, Wanda might've insisted on a RC but we wanted to either remove it or make it harder to match for other teams, which means we were worried some team could've fucked us over and getting him "cheaply" for that amount.

Nevermind, that's all in the past now. Icardi is a shitter and will probably go for 40M next summer.

Yeah, that really has nothing to do with it. No one wants to pay 100 mill for a toxic player. Plus he just hasn't been good in 2019.

I dont think people are saying there is no market for Icardi, but rather that no team would pay 110 million for him. True, Morata went for 60 something but that's a huge difference compared to 110 million. Have there even been many strikers moving for that kind of money?
