Higuain dropped by Argentina, and replaced by...Dybala

I really like Dybala, and I think he is a more talented player than Icardi, but Icardi definitely deserves a spot over Dybala right now. I guess the Wanda stuff is the reason? Either that or for having the music taste of a 12 year old girl combined with a 40 year old ranging homosexual

Atletico's Correa also made the squad over Icardi

I feel Icardi doesn't really fit Argentina's system.

Yeah, I wouldn't rule that out either. Dybala is definitely more in the mold of their other forwards.

icardi's last callup was in 2013 when sabella was in charge (who had a lot of communication with inter and was probably pressured by zanetti to give him his debut). i may not be the biggest icardi fan out there, but this is getting ridiculous. they haven't let the wanda issue go. in may martino repeated that he, along with the team, don't appreciate icardi's "lifestyle and attitude/mentality" :eek:blivious: he also said he's not going to discard him along with a ton of other argentine young players ive never heard of, which is a diplomatic way of saying "fuck icardi". martino added that it's impossible either icardi, di santo, or dybala can make it into the copa squad. now dybala has made it into the national team, no less in place of higuain who plays a target man role with argentina...

Martino will never call him because he's a giant douche. We'll just have to wait for him to get replaced with a more sane coach. I can see a Dybala-Icardi attack for Argentina in the future.

Icardi isn't particularly great at creating, passing, or holding the ball and thus doesn't really fit what Argentina tries to do. Honestly, I think it will be years until we see Icardi making regular appearances for Argentina.

With that being said, he could be lethal with a competent supporting cast so hopefully he gets a shot

I think he'd fit pretty well with Messi's creativity. Icardi's off ball positioning and runs can be brilliant. He just needs to be fed.

its beyond stupid martino puts him below correa, dybala and alongside di santo, carrillo, and bou (whoever they are) in the pecking order. higuain and tevez are also reasonably debatable.

Tevez is a far superior player to Icardi

he's in argentina though. to me its natural for a players game to regress against weaker opposition, though when i think about it veron still did a dcent job for the national team for years after he returned in 06.. yeah, i dont know what level tevez is playing at with boca.

still, i feel he doesnt complement argentina's other forwards as well as icardi would. the one thing they have needed for a long time is a cold finisher and they have one in icardi yet they don't call him up.

They have Aguero who is superb finisher and I don't even talk about his overall game.

His sole cap was a competitive game unfortunately. So he's tied to Argentina. I know it has to be bothering him at this point. When's the last time a top scorer of such a competitive league couldn't even get a look in with their national team?

Oh wait, Luca Toni I guess :yao:

There are few.
Andy Cole was superb for United and was also top scorer in the league (once or twice) but played only 15 times for England.
Chris Sutton - played only once for England
Dion Dublin - 4 caps for England
Kevin Philips once scored 30 league goals but played 8 times for England.

But all these players had common problem. Alan Shearer.

Diego Tristan barely played for Spain

In Bundesliga,
Keissling - Top scorer but rarely picked for national team
Grafite was top scorer and won the league but barely played for Brazil.

doesn't matter. in every interview he's given regarding the national team, he's been adamant on not playing for italy or any other country, because it's an "argie thing". i'm stunned dybala gets called and not him, no matter the system argentina has or want to keep up with. you need different players.
