Someone on Twitter described the situation adequately by saying "It's like using an rpg to kill a mosquito", that is exactly how the management approached this, you cannot expect this to go out without a reaction. Now he is not staying on our terms and we are not selling him on our terms, lose-lose situation for us.... unless one considers the euphoric temporary response by fans in the short term a win.

Nah, captaincy stripping is a correct call if he's not a proper captain. The timing is horrible, that's all (though not a small thing to fuck up the timing this bad).

Yeah to do it now i mean they even could have done it now and not make it public just claim he s injured or some shit like that to not let the news out a day before a game and maybe to be ready to explain the decision better to the fans. Right now it all just looks like a cluster fuck. Now we basically also put spallo and politano in a shitty place cause they were the first to give any kind of statement on the whole situation since we announced it. And it was so obvious that this presser is gonna be all about icardi with the news braking on the same day without any additional context.

nah....forzaladriforums.com since marotta is god

Hahaha, you're funny.
Getting mad over Marotta for stripped his armband.

Your beloved ex captain couldn't even score when we needed the most.

Imagine if icardi was in Milito position in CL final, i can only imagine he couldn't even beat Van Buyten 1 on 1 and outrun Demichelis.

Get over with it, your excaptain era is done.

The fact that you call his wife his hoe shows that you are a kid.

Seriously, you are defending your ex captain's wife over this club?

How would you do it differently?

Strip his captaincy in June, when we don't have 15 crucial league games coming up.

That's what a sane club would do.

Be a man & professional and accept you've lost the captaincy. To sook about and protest it by not wanting to be a part of the team shows incredible immaturity.

I don't believe his loss of captaincy was an act directed by just one person at Inter, whether it be Spalletti or Moratta. Clearly this was done with input from the team aswell as the coaching staff and management.

Maybe the team has been disjointed because of him ?

Hopefully it's a mutual decision, otherwise it's plain stupid to make such moves in the middle of the season, especially one day ahead of the match.

Yeah it was mutual, both the management and the team agreed :D Brozovic even liked the news

so he was called up for the game but decided not to come. This just shows how entitled he is ,and also his little hand gesticulations whenever cross doesn t hit him directly in the head.
This just proves his REAL character: toxic, like the snake from our previous logo...

Just a big ego guy, but he will now learn that nobody is above the club ;)

Team was not following him any more, he was probably acting like a boss instead of a leader :) He was not getting much service either, he probably thought he is above them?

Still not convinced on the timing myself, but it's not like things were serene before Icardi lost his captaincy. If the rumors are anything to go by (it's only rumors, grain of salt, etc etc), the dressing room was turning against Icardi. And Icardi hasn't been playing well for a while. Maybe mgmt felt Icardi's captaincy was too damaging to team morale, and they needed to do something to stop a sinking ship. I can't imagine the players feel good about their captain's wife airing out all the dirty laundry every year.

It's a shame because this season I felt Icardi was growing more than ever into his role. And I've got no problem with him being a quiet captain either. But a captain can't let his wife insult his teammates.

I think that's the case here. He is the culprit obviously.

We are bound to see how this unravels in the next days... but lately every bad, unimaginable thing that could happen, happened to us. From Nainggolan, to Perisic and now Icardi... deep shit.

Honestly I don't think Icardi is evil, that he wants bad for anyone or anything like that. He just seems not to be a correct type of player/person to be captain. I'd say MOST of the players are like this. So it's even nothing extraordinary, quite contrary.

The problem is he was handed the captaincy back then, at a pretty fucking young age and he has grown into that, despite him not being a proper person for that job.

Stripping that captaincy away in the middle of the fucking season?

Do people even know what happened? I find the reactions both hilarious and concerning. You probably will also feel that way if you realize what the issue was here...

I know, you are upset, i get it, i think the same as you. They should have waited for the end of the season.

Repeating it won't make it better now.

Yeah that is true. Now we need to hope that the rest of the team can drag us to CL spots.

What the fuck is going on here.

Stripping captaincy, fine fair enough. If he decided himself to not to to the EL game, dont fucking boradcast that to the world Spalletti. This club is an absolute shitshow at the minute. No wonder so many players are looking to leave, we are embaressing ourselves. The only people being punished here are us fans.

What's the best case scenerio here, he signs a new contract and we save 2 million a season for 4 years and go splash that savings on the next over the hill 30 year old piece of shit, or we have caused so much drama we lose our most marketable and expensive player for half of what we could have got. What the fuck is going through the minds of all involved, Moratta you are making a fucking show.

Guys, there’s two facts here, obviously icardi has made some poor choices through his career. Icardi deserves more blame then EVERYONE else in this situation.
Another fact is, again, if the club was had to make this drastic change in the middle of the season, something tells me there’s something very rotten in the changing room between Icardi and his peers. We’re entering in a very important stretch of the season, so, put yourself in management shoes, they see the problem, they have two choices, let it linger longer and longer and longer, or pull the plug.
Marotta has already put two people in our team in their places, and it seems to have worked, so this had to be done.
The longer they let it go, the worse it would get. That’s my opinion on this. Timing becomes irrelevant when you see thy things are rotten.

Okay according to firmino (from Spallo topic) it was indeed Icardi informing he's not coming to Wien. Not good. So much tension.

Don't worry, we'll sign Depay instead.

Bigger players have been sold and replaced. We’ll be fine.
