The reality is that even if that didnt happen he prob still wouldnt have called. Messi and Aguero will prob start and then you have Dybala prob on the bench and 2 subs in Martinez IF he isnt gonna start no point in taking him with potentially him causing issues or just giving other younger guys the chance to be on the bench. I am sure Icardi would like to be there regardless but when ur sub at ur own club goes and ur not u have to look at urself.

He has not exactly been a model professional this season. Not to mention that his productivity has decreased to the point of being non-existent. I am not surprised they omitted him from the National team. Personally, I think being left out of the squad and not playing in the Copa will really hurt him and may jut be the wake up call he needs to actually start caring about the trajectory in which his career is travelling. Having said that, I am by no means holding my breath.
