We will surely make at least 1-2 more. Guarin, Gargano, Kovacic, Kuzmanovic, Cambiasso, Benassi, Duncan, Obi aren't enough especially considering 1-2 of them will not be here and 1-2 are forever injured.

I'd like to see benassi make more appearances. He has good qualities as a passer and shows decent if not good defensive effort. If inter is going with a 3 man midfield for the foreseeable future then he has a place in that rotation.

And guarin is a boss on the right side of the midfield. He played there at the end of last season and proved to be a handful for other teams.

But we will see how much kovacic will improve our midfield and what his role will be in by the end of the season. If he show competence defending then I don't think inter will need another midfielder, including gargano.(assuming benassi or Duncan stays and has quality)

1 player can definitely improve our midfield a lot, but there is only a limit to it. We looked much better with Kuzman, but that doesn't take the midfield to the level of Juve/Barca.

Which is why, we should be looking for a player better than Gargano, or more specifically, one who can contribute defensively and encompasses more technical skills than Gargano.

If we wanna be just as good as those midfields, then we need a line of midfielders who are decent on the ball, while being good defensively. That's exactly what Juve's midfield is, unless we have the technical superiority like Barca.

That's the coach's job the organize the tactical approach to the game.

We are talking about the mercato team here, which is to supply players to be at the disposal of Stramaccioni. If we've built a decent squad and Stramaccioni still manages to make us look like a Serie C2 team, then I'm afraid we'd have to change coach, which I don't want to see.

The thing which is even stranger is that those players we are interested in, are all players who would suit a youth project. If we are really going to sign Markovic, Peruzzi, Icardi and Andreolli then it seems like we really have a clue what we are doing.

We won't sign Markovic, his price is already too high (Higher than Kovacic price). Partizan wants at least 20, is the last word.

No matter how good Kovacic performs till the end of this season, I do think that we will need one more quality midfielder for next season to play alongside Guarin and Kovacic (if he performs well). Cambiasso and co. would obviously be there as well.

Diamanti wont be bad buy after all, he is 29, little too late but could bring us at least 3 good seasons. The thing is, Bologna would want over 10 for their best player, and he'd want decent contract, so, would still be bad deal.
