Also what King said butFor me personally:
Ibrahimovic > Pazzini (Ibra is in better form, and has proved more over a longer career, however when Pazzo's in form he is blistering as well no doubt)
Pato > Milito (In terms of ability to take a player on and beat him 1v1 Pato is the better player, however finishing wise when in form few are better than Diego)
Boateng < Sneijder (No comparsion. Sneijder is one of the top 3-5 midfielders in the world when in form. Boateng is good but not at Wesley's level, he also plays in a much different position at Milan.)
Van Bommel ~ Cambiasso (Van Bommel in his prime could be considered a better player and while he has been good at Milan his movement has decreased over time due to his age; Cambiasso, while maybe not as good technically adds an X factor our side in terms of emotion while also a great ball winner. Both have their own qualities which could make them the better player. In my eyes Ernesto is better, but it's probably because I'm biased)
Aquiliani < Motta (Motta has to me proven more than Alberto over the course of his career; While Alberto has had more hype as a younger player Motta did his development the hard way. After his time at Barca and his injury during the stint at Atletico I thought his career was done, meaning going to a lower tier side in Spain for the rest of his career... however he proved me wrong. He overcame the injury, did awesome in the year Genoa finished 5th and for me was one of the keys alongside Cambiasso in our treble year as he provided something we had been missing for a long time... a link between attack and defense. Yes, Wesley was the key man that year in that respect, but Motta did a lot of that as well as the things we you need; his clearence vs Chelsea on the goal line was huge in the 2nd leg in the 1st half and he has shown time and again that we are a better side with him in the line up. Aquiliani has still not had a season like Motta in my opinoin)
Nocerino ~ Zanetti (In current form Nocerino offers more energy as well as going forward. However during the course of their careers the comparsion is not even close. Defensively Zanetti is the better player... OBVIOUSLY. Plus not to mention this position is not Zanetti's best position... it's a really hard comparsion. But over the course of the past decade Nocerino is not even in the same universe as Zanetti, end of story.)
Abate < Maicon (While Abate has improved dramatically the past two seasons I still don't think he offers the same amount of offensive firepower Il Colosso does. Maicon has been getting over some injuries in recent times, however when in form there is no comparsion for me. Abate gives good energy and his workrate is second to none. In current form one could argue that Abate is better than Maicon due to the recent injury problems of Maicon, however I believe when the game is on the line there is only one answer really.. we are talking about the right back of Brazil, one of the best 3 right backs in the world when healthy and in form)
Nesta > Lucio (Different type of central defenders... Nesta is much more intuitive reminiscent of the older school, while Lucio depends slightly more on his physical ability. Lucio is also a beast in the air while Nesta reads the game more. For me Nesta is the better player and both are very experienced. Lucio offers a bit more going forward and could randomly open an attacking move which leads to a chance due to his dribbling capacity. However, Nesta is just unreal in his defending... earlier this season at the Nou Camp he showed why he is still one of the best and can pull a performance when needed. This does not diminsh Lucio's accomplishments. Lucio was world class and he still is a great defender.)
Thiago Silva ~ Samuel (Totally different defenders and obviously at totally different stages of their careers. Samuel has proven more over his career and has come back from bad injuries. Personally I think he is one of the top 5 central defenders of the past decade. His understanding and anticipation is on the level of Nesta for me. He defienitely does not have the physical attribtues to match Thiago Silva, but he has intelligence, a sign of a great player who has longevity. Time will tell with Thiago if he will reach those levels. Silva is also more of an offensive center back, he can also play in the sweeper role as well as a make shift midfielder. Based on current form as well as physical capacity I would vote they are about at the same level in different ways.)
Zambrotta ~ Nagatomo (In recent form is Yuta, who definitely trumps Gianluca on those terms... however Zambrotta is much more experienced and has played at this level more consistently. This is kind of the Thiago vs Samuel discussion at least in terms of career and form. While Yuta is younger and in better form than Gianluca, Zambrotta is someone who is a solid player who will always fight for the team. I would tip the hat slightly to Yuta but Gianluca's experience in big games is telling and he knows how to play in those types of games while Yuta is still getting used to playing at a big club.)
Abbiatti < Julio Cesar (Not even close. Abbiatti is a solid keeper who is consistent and experienced but when Julione is in form no keeper in the world touches him except Casillas possibly. He was goalkeeper of the world for a reason and Abbiatti is not at that level. Period. His save vs Messi in the Nou Camp two years ago for me is the best save I have personally seen in the past 5-6 years. A close second for me is Jens Lehmann's save against Real Madrid vs Raul at Highbury in 2006).
So overall.........
BBilan 3
Inter 4
Draw 4
Lucio > Nesta. Lucio still has more speed and power then Nesta, who is an intelligent Defender. Lucio is also much better in the air then Nesta.
You should have compared Samuel with Nesta and Lucio with T. Silva. They are more alike players.
