If we play with three-man defence, we need to have 6 CBs. Samuel, Lucio, Ranocchia, Chivu, Cordoba, Rivas/Caldirola. If Caldirola isn't good enough, Rivas is good choice for 6th CB (who will play the least amount of minutes). Also it's almsot better for Caldirola to play in a smaller club, where he can actually play and not sit on the bench/stands.

Actually in case of injurie crises in defence i would prefer changing back to 4 defenders instead of playing with rivas.
He played one single match in the last experience with inter and he managed to get us out of the cup

He wasn't too bad under Mancio in 07/08, but was pretty poor in the 08/09 season. I remember that match your talking about. 3-0 we lost against Samp. And there was that UCL round of 16 match against Man UTD which we played with a CB pairing of Cambiasso and Rivas if I remember correctly where he was awful.

Well he joined them at the end of January, most likely spent the month of February getting in better game shape, then played his first match in March. After that match he was injured for the rest of the season...
