Nemanja Vidic, "WTF" is this our youth project?, buying players at there last years of playing abilities I can name a whole list inter has had, this sucks.

what we need is long term younger players........ not old farts.

Getting Vidić for free is okay. He can still contribute something for our team, and also having an older CB in the squad is no problem, because he doesn't need to play every game and he won't bitch about it if he doesn't play.

So Rano, Rolando and Juan Jesus will play, while Vidić will be the first option on the bench. Oh, and he doesn't need to play every game because he is already a developed player. So definately Vidić will not steal time from JJ, for instance. Having 6 JJ's is a worse thing than having 1 JJ, Rolando and Vidić, because you don't want underdeveloped players to rot too much on the bench. You'll see.

LOL, it's not like Vidic's coming to Inter to go sit on the bench. Think and hope the defense will be Rolando-Vidic-Juan.

Well who knows, maybe we'll get another brilliant CB. Well talk more about it later, when the summer ends and we see what we ended up with.

Nope. It's actually good to have some experience in the squad. A lot of members on the forum think that we should only be signing players age 20-25, which can't be the case. Every team needs experience, ESPECIALLY in defense since most defenders peak at later years (not implying Vidic is at his peak or anything), he'll be a great asset to the team and I'm sure our other CB's and youth team players will learn a lot from him. He's also a free signing, so besides his wages, no losses were made. He'll get a good amount of playing time as well if we make the Europa League too.

There is also the marketing aspect of the signing which I see as good starting business.

Exactly. It's true, there are risks in buying older players (remember Forlan :/), but there are risks for every player you buy.

We are also getting some young players, but I'm afraid most of them will never see the first team, no matter how good or bad. Or will never get a proper chance, which is the norm at Inter.

Look of it like this - Vidić instead of Samuel. That's it.

Assuming we're sticking with the same formation next season, he'll be a good leader in the defense as the center CB.

If Cambiasso doesn't stay next season, i think next in line to be captain is either Yuto or Ranocchia. I'd rather have Vidic tbh.

So 6m onths before he arrive fif make the player thread already
Now 2 month before he arrive fif want him to be a captain
Either vidic is very special or people in fif are delusional

Afaik their captain for the last 10 years are vieira, henry, gallas, fabregas, van persie, and vermaelen
None of them appointed right away in their first season

sometimes you sign someone who is just such a stand out leader that you have no choice in it really.

Well, no, but clearly from an Inter side we would not announce a new captain before he actually signed...

but it wouldnt be unheard of to announce him AS the next captain once he does sign.

That being said, I doubt he will be anyway.
