Would like to point out to people who have an issue with his age, he is the same age as stam was when milan signed him. Stam wasn't bad in serie a, now was he...

So 6m onths before he arrive fif make the player thread already
Now 2 month before he arrive fif want him to be a captain
Either vidic is very special or people in fif are delusional

Im speaking theoretically, look at our squad if Cambiasso leaves who could lead the team? I honestly cant see anyone being a better captain than Vidic.

I hope this guy stays fit, and I hope we play a 4 man defence with him and JJ as CBs.

What we desperately lack is a leader, and a leader in defence. Samuel hasn't been fit for a while, and I don't really like the leadership influence of Cambiasso. Vidic to marshall the defence and teach stuff to JJ would be great.

I personally have no problems with Vidic, I was thrilled when I knew he agreed to join us. Vidic would fit swiftly in Serie A, I just can imagine him bossing the defense here even at his old age.

My prediction for Vidic: Success.

I hope Rolando stays too, and with Juan Jesus they trio can be what we really need.

Rannochia could be sold as well as Campagnaro who might perform good in the WC and we could offload him in a not bad price.

The issue is more the fact that in the past two seasons he's had injuries and notable inconsistencies in form.

Honestly based on what I've seen of Vidic this season...I would rather just keep Samuel for our experienced but slow CB. Samuel has been doing well this season, and Vidic isn't the consistent rock that he was a couple years ago.

Exactly he is inconsistent that's why man united don't want him anymore.

He decided to leave because he didn't want to work with Moyes, nothing to do with United not wanting him. I'm sure most of the ManUtd fans still want him.

He is not inconsistent, he is as consistent as they come. He is struggling with fitness in the last 2 seasons, so if he can sort that one out then he is very very consistent.

Btw, he had few poor games this season, can't deny that but the season as a whole was fucked up. Not 1 player performed like they did in the past, thanks to Moyes.

And now Moyes is gone, was his personal decision premature then...

Too agressive for Serie A?

The best defenders in the last decade have been playing in Serie A AND have been aggressive as fucks. Have you guys seen Samuel and his fouls in the middle of the pitch?

Also.. Vidic didn't have poor season, the hell are you talking about? He was Uniteds standout defender most of the time, even tho he had some poor games. All the rest were mediocre as fuck. In most games there was no cohesion between the defenders in United whatsoever, were worse than us with Strama.

He is a fighter and is 32, which is not a lot since he is a defender. Samuel is 36. Samuel is more injury prone as well. That's enough for me to take Vidic over him, who will probably even have more to 'prove', kinda, in new team and league. New challenge always brings more motivation (unless you are forced to go there, which wasn't the case).

He is class defender, one of the best worldwide in the past decade, coming for free. He has lost some pace, but it's not like Serie A is the fastest league in the world. in fact, i think Serie A suits him more than EPL atm. I just hope he stays injury free, and if he does, I have no doubt he will be, by far, our best defender next season.

He was asked that question and he didn't answer it.

The question among the supporters, however, is whether Vidic would have remained at the club had he known the Moyes era would be cut short before the summer.
“It is not an easy question to answer,” Vidic says.
So that is a 'yes,’ then?
“It is not a yes,” Vidic replied. “I am trying to answer it properly. Sometimes you don’t make a decision instantly, especially one like this. You have to think about it. Is it the right thing to do? Sometimes there are many reasons.
“If I am going to do something, I ask myself why. If there are more than two reasons to do it, I think it is time to change. Sometimes these decisions you make are because of certain circumstances. You don’t make a decision like that all of a sudden. I know you would like me to say the exact thing but I cannot. The best way for me to say it is that sometimes you make decisions because of circumstances.

Vidic is only 32 years old, bear in mind Samuel is already 36 and still plays well.

Vidic will be able to put up at least 4 great seasons.

Wait until he surprises you lot of pessimists.

Have nothing against Vidic in terms of age, and the style of Serie A will probably suit him more. But I have to disagree that he has been totally consistent. I thought he was quite poor against Chelsea, Arsenal, Olympiakos (off the top of my head...couple others I can't recall).

That being said I think he'll have a couple of good years here. I just don't think he'll be the undisputed starter like most of you seem to be assuming.
