COMBI ON NERAZZURRI'S PROGRESS IN RISCONE

Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:30:04
RISCONE DI BRUNICO - "We're working well and with a smile on our faces," said Inter chief of medical staff Franco Combi to the journalists who are following the Nerazzurri during the pre-season retreat in Riscone.

"We haven't had any problems in particular, touch wood. There's an excellent and constructive understanding with Mancini, the technical and training staff. We're all working under no pressure whatsoever and this aspect is fundamental for the psychological tranquillity of the squad."

Christian Vieri and Fabio Cannavaro continue to train separately from the rest of the squad. Professor Combi explained why. "Vieri took a knock to his knee at the European championship so after his holidays he needed to do specific work to strengthen his muscle structure. He's feeling fine now and you can already tell because he's stamping the ground...

"As far as Cannavaro is concerned, we have to deal with that famous tibia fracture which has improved considerably, but with which Fabio has to live with. He needed to do work to prevent muscular injuries so he's ready for when the real preparations start.

"After just one week in retreat, both players are decidedly better, so we're not worried."

I didn´t know where else to post this. So just place it where you want. :)

Cannavaro should have that surgery NOW. We can do without him for some months.

We can´t have him playing not fully fit each time he plays.

I agree. There is no need for Cannavaro to forcibly play while he can end up getting injured even more and missing even more playing time. Sure every player wants to play, but if he needs surgery to clear up his tibia problem then he should do it now and not risk having serious complications later on into the season.

I do agree that Cannavaro should have his surgery now, rather than getting injured against and not been fit again later on. It could be yet another Coco's case. Atlast, Coco did have his operation and hopefully he won't be a injury machine like before anymore.

Problem is though that Burdisso will leave for the Olympics. So that would leave us with Cordoba, Materazzi and Miha (he´ll come, for sure) for a month or so.

After reading Mancini's interview with inter.it today, the sun will rise from the west if Sinisa doesn't come.

Isn't serie a delayed cause of the olympics ?? So we will only be without burdisso for the 2 cl qualifiers he should be back when serie a starts. I think we can manage 2 games with only 3 centrall defenders.

Mancio said that having 2 centre backs is not a bad thing for the mean time. This proves more that Adani is leaving, because he was only talking about Cordoba and Matrix. Why didnt he include Adani then if you guys think he will stay ?

May be not. First of all, he may not be in Mancini's plan for the Champs league qualifier. Then, I guess Kily will have to be with his national squad - training, friendlies, and might have to go to greece in few weeks time. ;)

I hope not. :(

Isn't our match on August 10/11 ? In that case, I am 99% sure that he won't be available. ;)

btw, Are there any group phase matches 1/2 day/s before the opening ceremony of Olympic Games ? I guess so.

wait for few minutes, I will find out ;)

Great, Prav! If Kily can´t play I suppose Recoba will. Or Deki. Or maybe even Cesar...
