a couple of days ago a report from the politecnico of torino called the roma stadium project "catastrophic".

Roma itself had asked for a technical report by the Politecnico di Torino, one of the most important italian universities when it comes to engineering, transports and the likes. Roma hoped to get on the project a "bollino blu" ("blue sticker"), which is a seal of approval. but it backfired.

according to the technical report of the university, there are issues regarding the logistics, in how to get to the stadium. they claim the stadium could de facto block the traffic in the Southern part of the city whenever there is a match.

this report doesn't hold any legal value but it's still something that will force the municipality to reconsider the logistics of the project.

for those who want to know more, you can google translate this: https://www.ilfattoquotidiano.it/20...ifq&utm_campaign=pagination&utm_medium=button

well, i thought of that, too. sure thing, there may be something political behind the curtains, so to speak. i certainly don't rule that out. yet, since it was a.s. roma to ask for a technical report, it's a huge own goal.

Well, FIAT is one of their most important collaborators and the Agnellis have historically put their hands in everything around Torino, even the rival football teams, so that's the first probable cause, not just something that may be the case.

Surely, there probably is an issue that may need tweaking for Roma's project and that's what the Polytechnic should be stating. Change a to b and it'll be better, not call the whole thing 'catastrophic'.

according to gazzetta, Inter and bbilan could build their stadium of the future right next to san siro, on the (pretty much abandoned) site of the Trotto, the former horse races arena.

the logistics would be perfect, as the municipality wouldn't have to think of new traffic areas being the Trotto basically where san siro is.

but at this point this is still just speculation i guess. i mean, it makes sense, it's plausible, but imho it isn't more than an idea (gazzetta's idea) as of now.

This sounds completely idiotic - why would Milan need two huge stadiums right next to each other?! At this point the municipality should seriously think about just leasing the damn stadium for 99 years (like Juve's deal) to one or both clubs and be done with that shit. I doubt the bureaucrats will give such a permit anyway if they're so dead set on keeping the clubs' cash from slipping loose.

We would be tearing down the San Siro at that point, mate. Probably turning it into a parking lot or something.

Bad idea. The Meazza needs to be improved. Build whatever commercial attractions on top of the Hippodrome instead if they're willing to part with that land.

Didn't we always want a shopping centre near the stadium? Pretty sure its big enough for that

That horsetrack thing has been mentioned many times over the years if not decades.

Our stadium situation is the same sad story that runs on repeat again and again with no outcome at all.

It annoys me that our management/club owner seems not to spent even more time on this issue. It's obvious that a new stadium is a way for us to generate a more stable and a higher income from match days which will make us much stronger in many aspects.

It really seems like we are waiting on what fucking Milan does. A club owned by a hedgefond that doesn't give a shit about a new or renovated stadium as they know they are going to sell the club within 5 years.

Our management are retards if the only reason is because they are waiting on Milan but honestly I believe the true reason sadly might be something else. Perhaps Sunning just doesn't want to spent that amount of money at the end of the day.

And sharing a potential brand new stadium with Milan!? Fuck off.

English football is different. The clubs are mostly identified by their stadiums, whereas Italian clubs are much deeper than a matter of urban location. In Italy it's fairly common to share a stadium. Inter & Milan, Roma & Lazio, Juventus & Torino, Sampdoria & Genoa, Hellas & Chievo in Verona and so on. The rest aren't unique, they just don't have important city rivals to share it with, like Napoli, Fiorentina, Bologna, Parma, Bari, Palermo etc.
