MoH, I like Riquleme as well, but he is not Serie A-material. Do you want another Mendieta, Lopez etc.?

I loved what one analyst said about Riquleme: "The slow motion genius." No spaces = ineffective Riqueleme. I am watching the Mexico game as I type, and I noticed how ineffective Riquleme has been with tight marking and no spaces.

Riquelme wasn't as effective against Mexico ... and in the Confed Cup, Mexico's stifling style was closest to that we play in Italy ...so Riquelme should stay away from Serie A ... :( :(

Couldn’t have said it better myself :D

He was quite ineffective (Kept blasting his set pieces all over the place) but isn’t he and Veron somewhat similar? I know what I’m saying is risky, but they both create something out of nothing? Hell, Aimar or Pizarro would do fine (Ok, I’m officially losing it! Seba deserves his place  )

P.S I just noticed something yesterday, Riquelme = Re-Kill me

Riquelme needs spaces to operate. Players like Maradona and Ronaldinho can dribble their way out of tight areas and create through balls. Riquelme needs to be able to have a few yards of space, in order to look around and make a pass (which he's extremely good at) or dribble into further space, in order to make a pass from a better position. The only other option he would take (other than passing) would obviously be shooting, but all of his goals in this tournament have come from set pieces - and I'm sure most of his goals at Villarreal will come from free kicks or penalties in the future. Though his long range shooting is also very impressive.

Riquelme just works with what talent he's been given and produces it to maximum affect. Mexico closed him down tightly but he still managed to make a few good moves.

Anyhow, this is Veron thread. I believe Veron should be called up to the squad ahead of D'Alessandro. Veron is so much better than him.

It's actually Kell and not Kill ;)

We should go for Medina. I like this guy a lot even before the Confederations Cup. I saw highlights and matches of him in Copa Libertadores. He is like Esposito, same position, mostly right winger though...

P.S: Sorry to post this on the Veron thread... , i got carried away

Hmm, I always thought it was Re-Kwell-Me. Don't they prounounce the Que in Spanish? I think they do, I know in French it would be Re-Kill-Me.

Anyway, I don't question his talent. The assist he had in the first goal against Levante in the last game of La Liga showed his maturity.

I hadn't seen much of him that season, but I had to since Master Catanha said he improved alot. The last time I saw him with Barca he was horrible, but I guess Catanha was right saying Barca didn't give him full chance.

Next season will be the ultimate, he will play in CL and Villareal are pretty much intact. Him, Forlan, Sorin and the black Brazilian fellow in midfield (don't know his name, but he was damn great) will make a great team.

Don't forget the black Ecuadorian new midfielder, VALENCIA. He's awesome. Villarreal sure have a good eye for under-rated talent.

That could be him. I saw him once, but didn't catch his name. He was freaking awesome, I think he playes behind Riquelme as a DM/CM, he can win balls and pass them nicely.

Good work Primo, I didn't know that Pellegrini had signed Valencia, very good signing, he is turning the team into a South American "reject" dream team, he will put Villareal on the map in a few years time, what a legend.

Veron does deserve to be picked ahead of trouble child D'Alessandro, but I don't think Veron will ever be selected again, Pekerman isn't a fan, neither is any other Argentine coach because Veron was the hope in 02 and he did not deliver and there are some bruises which Argentinean's have over that, those bruises won't go away, they think that he is a disgrace and that he brings the squad down.

Overall every year Inter face the same problem. Rebuilding the team too much and then it takes us ages to finally get it right.

But im so happy we signed Veron, it means that the 'transition' period that our midfield would go through (which effects strikers and defence) is over. Not just for Veron, but for Manicini. He now has a midfield he would of have worked with and got use to, building everything around it, which is much better then having a midfield and starting it from scratch then waiting until january for things to click.

yeah, Veron will stay with us one more year....,
having pizzaro is not a bad idea.... but will pizzarro be our last season ze maria, a very good player who is willing to be a backup (excellent backup)..?

coz the season after next season, pizzaro is our main playmaker...
veron will help him understand inter for smooth transition...

having Veron give me sooth feeling that we dont have to start over...
veron is what our midfield is built around...
next season we can prepare his successor in pizzarro....

even though I am confused with Stankovic's role, will he always be our versatile midfielder who never play his favourite position... Man, he is such a good player...
