He comes in. His 25 and he has signed until 2008.

Why we have 2 keepers under the age of 27 and are huge prospects just to be backups is BEYOND me!

We'll get transfer money when we release them probably ... its more a bussinessman like move I would say

no its not.

Toldo is on his last year. After him who will be numero uno? Its going to be one of Carini or Cesar i bet you that. So its not a business move, we have bought a keeper to replace Toldo after next season.

Not the most updated person, are you, huh? :D

Frey signed for Fiorentina and Toldo has been the confirmed first keeper for next season. At least until someone else of our current keepers can bench him.

This might be our first goalie in the 06/07 season but not before that unless Toldo screws up.... Carini will be a back up keeper, but I guess one of J.Cesar or Carini will be loaned out very soon.

I'm betting you Carini will be loaned out if one of them does get loaned out. Atleast by adding J. Cesar we ensure that Toldo will have to play his best each and every game because if he doesn't then he'll be overtaken by one of the 2 backups who are probably more then capable. So he's got a lot of pressure, which is great. It will only help him more.

I hope he stays! coz we will have the third Brazilian in the team! I'm a Brazil fan! (there're 7 Argentinians though.. :( )

But I'm afraid that we're actually using him to get someone else (e.g. Gilardino)?

I enjoyed what I saw last year from Carini, some stopped penalties and long unbeaten runs, but considering J. Cesar holds that good rep from his 2004 Copa America victory, I propose we allow each player equal opportunity to develop as the successor to Toldone.

I'm just perplexed at the decision to be signing 2 relatively young keepers to be backups. Obviously one of these 2 will be tipped to become our first choice keeper in a few years time - however, it seems highly premature to be bringing them in at such an early stage.

But, welcome in Cesar.

Ciao,
Tim

Good question. Maybe we will use him for a trade+cash deal. Or maybe loan him out.

Good question, I have the same doubt. we spent 2 (Carini aslo has no EU passport isn't he) non-Eu slots on backup goalies, kind of waste IMO.

Plus, do we still have spaces for other Non-EU players, say Samuel after this deal?

That is why I think that Carini or Cesar will be loaned.
