I'm not opposed to the idea of Paulinho. As I mentioned in Fredy's thread the other day, any midfielder with skill is welcome at this point. Anything to get Zanetti and Gargano out of midfield.

For better understanding, he is a Marchisio with more power but with the same ease in terms of covering the midfield. All of this, as in case of the Juventus player, Paulinho is with a strong sense of scoring goals. Another version, adopted by the former Brazilian national team coach Menezes, is that he is a tackler in a 4-2-3-1. Paulinho has proven to provide adequate coverage and also has good ideas in building up plays. A more dynamic De Rossi so to speak.

Going by this he sounds just like the player we need, basically a De Rossi style player.

A lot of people here would much rather have a deep lying playmaker, but really our midfield now is just a bunch of DMs, with no one capable of holding on to the ball. At the very least a box-to-box midfielder would be a great addition to the squad.

I just don't want to get my hopes up too much, these things have a tendency to break down at the last minute.

If you can'd do the job by being creative, do it by force! :D

Exactly, the DNA of Inter is still a hardworking team and that's where Paulinho and Guarin will be good.

I think the best thing Paulinho would add to our team is a midfielder who makes great runs into the box to score goals. We don't have 20 goal a season strikers so it's important to have other players who can score. I wouldn't bet my house on him succeeding, but everything I've read about him from people who watch him a lot says to me that he should succeed. My only doubt I have about him is that he once dislocated his knee which from what i've heard is something which can reoccur a lot once it's happened once.

so if the rumours are true, Rennes have accepted a £9.6m bid from a Russian team for M'Vila.

Although Paulinho is the flavour of the month, i think that M'Vila would represent a better prospect for us given the price and the fact that he is already accustomed to europe.

Alas, the management are going after a brazilian for 20m euro when there are lots of other players with a similar skill set out there for much less. Kinda reminds me of the Alvarez situation where we paid over the odds for a some what overhyped player and then we're kinda surprised when he fails.

Mvila is also very hyped, was worth over 25 just months ago... THe reason the fee is so low is that no team wants to gamble on him, the guy is retarded. He may do well - in prison.

If the reports are true and he did dislocate his knee, we should be really careful. Also, if he really allocated it himself and kept playing, it is even more worrying. It basically means that his knee is REALLY loose and that it is already a recurring problem. One does not simply keep playing when it happens the first time.

Man that happened a long back. Post that, he has been an integral part of the team that won the CWC. Can someone post some stats on how many matches he played or missed in last 2 seasons?

Well, my interpreation would then be that he has been very lucky. I once went three years without dislocating my knee. It doesn't change the fact that I was a ticking timebomb. Every day. I know several people with this problem ( common in Finland for some reason), but no one who has hurted it just once.

Would rather take that 15mil and bid for Banega....

Paulinho is competent, but not worth 15mil. People also need to realize that corinthians team is very, very, VERY well coached...

No, only english medias are reporting about that. In Italy all serious sources do not even mention a possible transfer ;-)

Jonathan was considered an above average RB in Brrazil, while Paulinho is a NT player and considered one of the very best players playing in brazil. Completely different.

I was referring in terms of quality of the transfers not the individual players.

15 mln seems pretty cheap considering that he's Brasilian and young.
