I feel if Radja is sold, it's because he's not seen like a starter and the management feel he's too expensive sub player.
He will be sold because he can free up funds (contract), fetch us a significant fee (if it's under 30m we won't sell him, probably give us a minimal capital gain for FFP(book value is 28.5) and he also is considered an influential locker room player which is usually a bad presence for a new coach. Icardi also has a a very strong locker room presence which is why Marotta wants to get rid of him. They want 'soldiers' that do not have the capability of telling other guys that the coach is not up to the task, even if the management agrees with that. (see Icardi vs Spalletti 2 month turmoil since December to February, and how Marotta reacted).
On the other hand, we have Handanovic and Perisic who aren't really vocal, they seem quite 'loners' (evidently due to being introverts) and you cannot really wipe out the entire locker room. It's just a signal to those that stay that everyone is replaceable. And both Nainggolan and Icardi aren't really 'allied' in the locker room so it's a very strong message by Conte through Marotta. The "I'm the boss" statement. With Diego Godin coming who has this trait, he will be present in a
carte blanche and I'm guessing they hope that he develops a bond with the coach and rallies behind him and becomes a pro-coach locker room leader as there'll be no existing influence there to sway his first opinion.
It's the Lippi treatment all over again. Hopefully we do not have the same outcome (a terrible season instead of improving following by lots of terrible decisions and a beating to remember by our rivals)

Diego Simeone gone and it was blamed on bad blood between him and Ronaldo. Which didn't exist. Surely he was involved in a deal for Vieri, but we had the Moratti wallet to avoid that.
With Mauro Icardi we will blame it on bad relationship with the management (aka Marotta).
-
Gianluca Pagliuca ousted as he hated Lippi for his cheating Gobbo past, especially due to a very heated argument in April 1998 after that scandalous defeat. They blamed it on 'age', despite the fact that Pagliuca was a top 3 Serie A gk in the next 6 seasons whilst at Bologna.
With Radja Nainggolan they will blame it on lack of professionalism, age and "bond" with Spalletti that makes it hard to play for a new coach.
-
Youri Djorkaeff. It was blamed on lack of playing time due to the new roster, but with
Roberto Baggio already frozen out because Lippi hated his guts and Youri just wanted to be part of the team he loved that was supposedly going to win the Scudetto and the Champions League. Don't think we have a similar situation here, but perhaps this may apply to someone like D'Ambrosio.

Giuseppe Bergomi. Marcello Lippi "forced" him to retire.
Marcello Lippi back then also brought lots of Italian players (Di Biagio, Panucci :yuck:, Peruzzi :yuck

which is what we see from Conte as well. Wants Barella, Chiesa, Lazzari, wants to keep Gagliardini and probably Candreva too. Not minding that as long as they are quality and loyal to the club. Panucci and Peruzzi weren't. Barella will be and was our target for 2 seasons now. I just hope we don't end up with Sturaro and Darmian instead as primary choices.
