AllezAllez, God bless you. However, just so no one accuses you of distorting the records, I'll help you out.

(1) Liverpool won on penalties not Chelsea.
(2) There is the matter of FA Cup and Charity Shield.

So can you update that so that anytime anyone in future refers to this bogus issue of record, we can always have a definitive record to consult.

How can u say FA cup and Charity shield does not matter? Talk about head to head Cl records. A win is a win. U won the treble. Isn't that fake, considering ur argument?

yeah stats are lies and only what rafa says is fachts right? even with cristiano's selling benitez still spent more than ferguson duing their time at epl u stupid moron.

Can u post the stats? If u ve built a successful squad and only need to add two players a season of course he ll spend less u moron. CR's record transfer greatly changes the record in AF's favor? When u start from scratch ofcourse u ll spend less. They were very close. How many links I should post?

Taking aside the luck part, how many disagree that we played at 150% of our abilities last season?

And how many agree that doing so is not possible forever?

nobody is expecting another treble, even another CL is just a dream for most, but even mancini was able to do better than rafa with a weaker squad and his own injury crisis

i know inter's success is relatively recent, but that doesn't mean our expectations should be set for the underachieving teams of the 90's and 2000-2005, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS and being 5th and 6 points behind after 13 games is NOT ACCEPTABLE, were inter playing 150% the last 5 times we won the scudetto? is roberto mancini a master motivator or a tactical mastermind? no, what he was is competent, which is a quality benitez is yet to show

Hello can we compare the record is 7-5. Not 7-4. So its not twice. Why leave Charity shield? Can we compare Chelsea and Liverpool's squads?
They re set apart by 100 mil. Towards the end of the area, we can very well see Rafa is getting the better of Mou. Also people here re saying that rafa is tactically inept. But can anyone explain how Rafa got the better of Mou(a very good tactician himself, u also have to consider both the legs) in CL? Chelsea could not pass through Liverpool in CL. Can u explain how Liverpool managed to master the group including Chelsea managed by Mou in 2005-2006. Its very well known and acknowledged by thinkers of the game that for consistent challenge to the title u need a strong squad and for the one-off matches like CL or Cup matches, u need strong XI. This is where tactics come to play. Rafa is better.

The stats say Mourinho is better than Rafa, end of story.

Whether you like it or not, Mourinho has beaten Benitez more times than not, so live with it and move on.

On the same note, Mourinho has won many more titles and more trophies than Rafa. I don't need to spell it out with facts, figures, stats and links, do I? The results and trophies speak for themselves.

Everything else is mere argumentative hyperbole and subject to personal opinions derived from personal bias and preference. Other than being good fodder for endless debate, all these are irrelevant to the FACTS that show which coach has done better than the other. As you will agree, these are what matters - the stats, the results.

I didn't want this to be a Mou vs Benitez statement (nor do I want to bash Benitez), but you asked for it. Face the facts!

Nobody does. The 0-3 was pure luck, a fluke. It had nothing to do with tactics. What kind tactics were those, to go down 0-3 at half time?

In the league he was a failure. When you came 2nd you only played good football when Manchester was already ten points away. What tactical genius. You beat Real then lose to relegation fodder. Tactical genius. How did you finish in the league and cups in all those years, so how good could he have been? Truth is that still lives off the CL final and that's that. He is not a great tactician.

You finished seventh last year although Arsenal, Manchester and at times Chelsea had it far worse when it comes to injuries. Did they whine? No. Big teams don't whine, thieves whine. Scouse people whine all the time like you're an elite team. Today and for years you are nothing.

You claim that the trouble at the club was responsible, but Manchester has so much more debt, but they always perform. Why aren't they whining all day like the Scouse do.

Benitez spent so much money but he never had a good squad. Always some good players, but Alonso only played good when the fat pig tried to to sell him off. Then he got his wish.

Look at it for what it is, the fat pig is highly overrated and we are right on top of the mountain and you are at the bottom, looking for crumbs. We take pride in what we have achieved and we won't allow a pig to destroy a great team and our great achievement. He needs to go asap, he is not the right man for the job.

Make him an offer. If you hate the man Roy so much, get rid and bid for the pig. No problem. I am sure the real top four teams will laugh all day when he comes back one day. Liverpool, a joke.

Sucker U won ur treble by pure fluke. Bojan got the goal, u lied u suckers. What ever we win is fluke, what ever u win is u deserve. Ha ha Inter was also relegated to second division and the next year Serie A was formed.

I always tried to have a proper discussion. But u people intentionally distort the records. Can we compare Chelsea , Man U, Arsenal squads? They din ve long lay offs with injuries like we had.

Man U has so much debt and now they re struggling. Do u know when u ve built up a squad that is settled and need to change only two players a year, ofcourse u ll not suffer debts immediately?

Do u know their revenues? They have 200 mil revenues more than us. They ve a new stadium so they can manage their debts better. Their commercial revenues re also high. But still debts re very high. Now u can see the effects. Also their debts re made long term and converted to equity. So only when they call in, u can see the unleashed nature of the debts. But u dont know these but start to tarnish our records.

If u again say we won by fluke. All the trophies u won u fluked and bribed.

Sorry proper Inter fans I was totally annoyed with these people lying without any evidence. U deserved ur trophies, v deserved ours. But these people constantly try to belittle Liverpool.

Ha we got new proper owners. They didnt protest and re stuck with the Glazers. They conduct Green and Gold campaign and didnt see any effect. We love our club more. Ask them to protest in all ways like we did. Thought we all should save our beloved club(ManU, Liverpool, anything).

Email barrage against Media, Fund houses like Black Rock, Mill Financial, Letters to RBS, FA, EPL, Takin it to them in the US, coordinating with Texas Rangers, H&G out banners in WC 2010 in all stadiums at many matches, marches to the center of the city, Campaigns, Sit ins at matches, boycott of all club merchandise, alternative standards corrupted kit, cancelling bank accounts, SAVELFC site, Spirit of Shankly movement... ...

We worked very hard and got new owners. We were called internet terrorists by Hicks. Blackrock acknowledged that fans played an important role in rejecting the request for refinance, RBS praising our role. New owners arranged meetings with us and are taking our views in.

The foundation was laid by Rafa. He made us proud. He is a legend for us. He got the 'Liverpool Way.'

Ok he is not performing as u expected. But when he got good wins against Werder, Bari, Roma, Tottenham there was no Badboy2, Omar, afallez, Giacinto... Nope these people were no where to be seen.

There were only Luka, Stefan, Cafecordoba, Vitomins, Nyall, Blackmore, ..
Hell even Inter Inter, Suneet were there from day 1. Though they criticized Rafa from the start. They were always there.

U got to stick to ur team through thick and thin. But here when the team wins, very little movement in Rafa Benitez thread. But when there is a loss, bang hate, hate and more hate. 60 pages of post in a week, mostly condemning. When he was winning, rafa thread gets 1-2 page of posts.
this is what happens.

Edit: The rules are clear you will not insult Inter.

I dint want get into any Mou Vs Benitez debate. Rafa will be up with Mou if he is provided with the same level of financial support.
Mou is a legend for u after Herrera. Similarly Rafa is a legend for us.
How many times i have said that rafa has made mistakes though there re mitigating circumstances?
He should do more.
But mostly what we get as replies is not valid criticisms. Its Fat Spanish Waiter, he ll relegate us, .... Purposely I ve left the abusive words many Inter fans re using. Its disgusting. No Liverpool fan said this about Mou Is that the smug nosed twat? Nope he achieved so much for u. Respect.

What Rafa did for us is beyond trophies. He stood for us, got us and made us proud. He made us No.1 in Europe inspite of unworkable circumstances.

But instead of criticizing his performances, they re calling him names. Though they dont know what happened during his reign at Liverpool, they re tarnishing him with cock and bull stories. Thats what is the prob.

Yeah shit squad with 13 international players at the WC. Yeah 2005 Cl win was fluke. Beating bayer Leverkusen, Juventus is fluke, Chelsea is fluke, Beating AC Milan is fluke. Someone here said winnign things have luck. But u ve to work hard to win the luck. U escaped group satge by the skin of ur teeth. 2-1 in the last ten mins is a great fluke, beating Barca is a bigger fluke, Bayern still greater fluke.
Fluke is such an easy word. U deserved urs and we deserved ours.

U dont know about Hodgson. What he is doing? So shut ur mouth and Know ur role. Ha the Rock's dialogues. Also let this be our final conversation. Plz.

Rafael Benítez bought 59 players for £231,276,000.

So u can very well he had a net spend of roughly 70 mil in six seasons. approx. 11.7 mil a season. Can u come up with AF's stats in the same duration?

im sure hodgson made fulham fans proud as well but i dont think they are in pool forum sucking him off. do u get it now?

But u surely would understand the reasons. How many times I should post them? Sucking up to ur rivals, scolding ur fans for protesting against the owners, talking up relegation battle facing sides, talking about selling ur best player to Madrid, using ur world class striker as a target man, loaning out a class CM, a very young loads of potential LB and buying 29 year old journey men. Making ur striker feed off from the hoofs. 1 or 2 chances per game. Castigating ur RB(England's RB) to hide ur own relegation side tactics. Buying a replacement CM and playing him in RW. U see how Poulsen and Konchesky perform. Already making ur world class striker and goal keeper talking about leaving in the summer. Saying league 2 side Northampton is a formidable side and blast ur young players as useless to hide ur own tactical ineptness. Alienating ur best ball playing CB, young golden ball winner of U-19 championships Pacheco(player of the tournament)....

Making ur side ( a side drilled in possession tactics) as a solely defensive side with third world tactics and getting beat by relegation tipped and newly promoted sides at home.

Making those sides play like Barca and dominating us totally.

let's not call him idiot..., He expresses his opinion in a good fashion..
even though I disagree with him.
Last season, the results in the league and Cl didn't show how we dominated.
However, if we looked closely.. there were so many calls against us.., we played with 10 men so often.., and Mou got banned just because of the gesture.. Everyone was against us...
We could win the scudetto last season by being one level above the strongest rival...

Santon is there an ignore button? Plz tell.

Rafael Benítez bought 59 players for £231,276,000.

Firstly why isnt Cisse's £14m purchase included, he didnt officially sign until Rafa was the manager. If you dont think his transfer counts because it was organized without his permission then you can take Cech and Robben(£20m combined) off Jose's as their signings were agreed before he arrived.

Secondly you have distorted many of those figures, as when Liverpool sign a player you use only the base figure(leaving out future incentives) while when Liverpool sell a player you use the maximum possible fee.

Thirdly you have took fee's as the lowest possible amount, Kuyt was reported as £10m, Lucas at £6m, Keane at £20.4m etc etc. These figures are took from a Liverpool fans website so there is clearly going to be some bias in how they reflect the amounts.

And Fourthly do you not imagine that the only cost is transfer fee's. Every player you bring in gets a non-refundable signing on fee. Bringing in an average of 10 players a season is expensive.

So u can very well he had a net spend of roughly 70 mil in six seasons. approx. 11.7 mil a season. Can u come up with AF's stats in the same duration?

Do you know why this argument is flawed? You're saying that Rafa's success is dependant on money, so a reasonable conclusion is to ask why Rafa is better than the Stoke, Everton, Fulham etc etc managers as over the 6 years Rafa has had far more money then them.

I'm sure if Tony Pullis inherited a squad already in the Champions League with players like Gerrard, Carra, Owen, Hyypia, Hamahn, Dudek, Riise, Finnan and a net spend of £15m a season he would of done just as well.

Rafael Benitez absolutely wrapped Liverpool fans around his finger. His abillity to get Liverpool fans on his side is evident when they sign up to this forum to worship him.

A lot of this is down to the idea he "stood upto Mr Ferguson". He criticised United and Ferguson for getting help from the FA (even though when he said United were lucky with refs, Ferguson was the only manager to have had a touchline ban that season), the fans like a reason for United being top even though they think the squad is average ,so referees are often said to be helping United .

Benitez didn't just spend a lot on transfers,

TOP Premier League WAGE BILLS 2008/09
Chelsea – £167m (£172m)
Man Utd – £123m (£121m)
Liverpool – £107m (£90m)
Arsenal – £104m (£101m)
Man City – £83m (£54m)
(2007/08 wages in brackets)

17 million increase in wages in a year, and that's before the year they finished 7th, when they sold Alonso, but bought in numerous other players. He massively increased their wages, and if you think 11 million a year on transfers (very very questionable) isn't enough than a 17 million a year increase in wages OFFICIALLY more than brings that level up. Transfers are one part of the equation, wages are just as important.

When Benitez was really in trouble he used to attack the owners, they were for sure a hinderance, but other managers have worked under similar circumstances. Fergie has spent less than him in his time at United.

Babel - 16 million
Keane - 19 million
Dossena - 8 million
Aquilani - 20 million
Johnson - 18 million

Is it any wonder that he didn't get what he wanted more often? In the season he finished 2nd it's a fact he tried to sell their best player of that season (Alonso) at the start, and replace him with Gareth Barry. Alonso subsequently left because he fell out with Benitez.

Here are some quotes on Benitez:

“I think all managers have huge respect for each other but you’re not going to all get along with each other,” said Grayson. “They’ll be disagreements on the touchline. We played Liverpool last season in the Carling Cup and Rafa came to speak to me in my office for ten minutes before the game and all he wanted to talk about was Sir Alex. I just listened and disagreed and didn’t say anything.”

He's obsessed with Ferguson, it's sad.

"Everyone asks me why I left Liverpool," said Benayoun. "There is only one reason – Rafa Benítez."

The midfielder says the Spaniard, who left Liverpool to manage Internazionale, never treated him with respect he felt he deserved.

"If I played well, I never felt he gave me credit," he told the News of the World.

"When I scored, I still expected to be out of the team the next game. On two occasions early last season, against Fulham and Lyon, the fans booed when I was subbed. They thought I was playing well but Benítez told me he was surprised the fans booed because I was not good enough.

"He tried to destroy my confidence. You can't treat a player like this and expect him to be happy."

Benayoun said he was very unhappy but out of respect for the club he did not speak out. He said the players and people at the club know how he felt.

"I don't want to speak on behalf of other players at Liverpool, but people know what happened to Albert Riera and Xabi Alonso. It was the same for me. Benítez tried to break me like he broke Riera."

Mourinho said: “It is very difficult work for Roy to do it with Liverpool as, over the last years, they have been getting worse, worse and worse.

“The Liverpool of 2004 was better than the Liverpool of 2005, 2005 was better than 2006 and 2006 better than 2007. And they arrive at a situation now where, but for Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina, Fernando Torres, if his head is there, it is very difficult for Roy to make Liverpool champions.

“He needs time and it’s not easy because I don’t think they went in the right direction.”

Even Mourinho can see it.

So that sums up benitezs tenure in three quotes. Obsessed with stupid things, driving his own players out and slowly taking Liverpool backwards.

Yes, the worst part is the kind of credit Mourinho is getting now. Of course, he did something extraordinarily amazing last season. But that team wasn't perfect; it almost lost the Scudetto. It was clear then itself that our squad needs a lot of improvement, instead we weakened it

I agree on the weakened squad part, and forever will never understand why we did what we did.

Almost lost the scudetto when they were going for a treble.... I have to point out. Surely playing against Barca and being in our first QF's of the CL in ages was taxing. We could relax in the league because we had been so damn good earlier or atleast got the points that mattered.
