If I had to choose between Rafinha and Cancelo I would choose Rafinha just because how he talks with media about wanting to stay. I'm just thankful I won't be doing this decision. I'd want both of them.

What if the choice was between Rafinha or Kovacic? According to rumours, that might actually be the call Ausilio needs to make.

I would still prefer Rafinha. He seems to have more desire to play for Inter, and has already integrated well in his position - thats not easy at Inter for an AM to succeed.

The other one is lower injury proness. I love how short is memory on FIF because when rumors about Rafinha started this was basically all people were talking about.

Frankly, I don't know who I would pick...

Yeah, at this point its hard to make that pick. We have in form Rafinha who has been very well integrated with this core of players and on the other hand we have Kova who is rotation player in Real, who is no doubt talented, maybe even better player all-round than Rafinha but is our of our system for some time. Dont really know.

If I have to pick one, because of the circumstances I pick Rafinha.

Kova can easily be used in more advanced positions in the field as he is more versatile then Rafinha but if we only take in consideration possible contribution in AM position then Rafinha would be safer bet.

Rafinha all the way. This is just like with Cancelo. We KNOW Rafinha works for our system but Kovacic is a risk. Same with Cancelo.

Why are we linked to kovacic?

Zidane use him a lot at real after he recovered from.injury and modric is not even getting younger. Why would real madrid want to sell him?

Plus we hardly can afford rafinha and cancelo so is real going to sell him lower than 40m?

Real doesn't want to sell Kovačić, but the player wants more playing time which it's hard to get with Kroos and Modric.

modric is 33 this year. kova missed out half the season due to injury and still played 1280 minutes this season there. plus zidane seems to rate him highly giving him task like marking messi...

i think we have a better chance to sign modric instead of kova

Kova over Rafinha talent wise for sure. I would say kovas ability to glide by defenders is top 10 in world football. He always struggled with the final part of his game and I havent seen much of him at Madrid. From what I hear he still cant make the final pass and has become more well rounded Defensively.

Keep Rafinha.

Kovacic only as an addition, not as replacement.

Kovacic doesn't glide past defenders, he only does it against midfielders in first own third.

He doesn't have the same direct offensive impact on opponent's third as Rafinha.

This is still the case after all these years.

From what I've seen recently, Kovacic's game now looks much more like Dembele, in a sense that he can always break out from any sort of difficult situation from midfield with the ball then distribute it safely to the more creative teammates. He keeps the game ticking. Maybe playing at Real demands that quality more rather than trying riskier passes/dribbles.
With our current setup, no doubt we need Rafinha more than him. We already have Brozovic masterfully taking care of the distribution from deep.

In all honesty we could use both but I agree, Rafinha out of our line up would be more of a detriment even if we added Kovacic. Kovacic is still a natural, he’s improved physically and probably mentally (just from not being at Inter), but there are still holes in his game. He doesn’t have a consistent final ball, which at this point I’m not sure if he will ever develop. He also still tries to dribble before passing out of trouble. I think I used the run first quarterback analogy to describe him when he was here, for American football fans.

With that said he is still better than Gags right now IMO. I would love to see what Spalletti could get out of him. He’s still young enough that he could put it all together. Most players don’t peak in his position till their late 20s and he still has those years ahead of him. And if he were to put it all together...that could be very special to watch.

He doesn't seem like a great player, but he has balls. It won't be long before the strong mentality from Barca wears off, and the losers here drag him into the pits of loserdom.
