Oh now I get it. I was wondering where I got my reputations, and apparently I got them back in 2006.

That explains why very old members who didn't post for years have some reputation points. The system saved the old reputation points when it was active years ago.

Just a quick question...

Isn't negative reputation only supposed to be given if the person makes a ridiculous comment that does not add anything to an argument??

Dario gave me negative reputation simply because he did not agree with my opinion on a topic! If negative rep is supposed to be given out when you do not agree with someone else's opinion, then I would give negative rep to 75% of the people on here lol...

No big deal, as reputation is nothing special, I just wanted to know what was the proper way of handing out reputation...

I don't care about reputation, but there are people who do. Maybe negative reputation points should be validated by the mods/admins ? Obviously those are not as many as positive points, so it shouldn't be that time consuming I think.

Currently anybody can give a negative rep for anything. I could give a negative rep to say Ehsan, for absolutely nothing, and even though it would be stupid of me, the negative rep will stand.

I think that the perfect system would be, if a negative rep was sent to be confirmed by an admin, or mod, and if the mod/admin thinks it is valid, then it should be added to the destined person. Otherwise it shouldn't.

Positive reps are positive, so probably noone will complain about them
