He just doesnt have what it takes to play at the highest level. RQ at his best isnt a worldclass player, at his best simply means his tricks are working, and that will never happen in serie a, only a crap league like the portugese is that possible.
I said that before we bought him. Its not about hitting form, gelling with the team, understanding the tactic or other bullshit, he just doesnt have what it takes. Even when he played well at porto he was still inconsistent.
you forget that even a crap league as the portuguese put teams in european competions...
so, as a player from oporto, champion for the last three years, in the those years quaresma played european matches against the most powerfull teams in europe. and, obviously, you do not know nothing about this. i remember incredible games he made: against chelsea, against inter (!), against fenerbahce there was a game in which he was just brilliant, one of the most fireworks exibition i saw in a football player, and so many more. there was another against arsenal, also very good, and so on. two weeks ago, when oporto played against arsenal, mr wenger said, with his traditional tranquility, that, and i quote, oh, how good it is to see that quaresma is not in the line up for this game.
so, moral lesson of this story: crap leagues are not closed oysters.
another one: a short list of footbal players coming from the poruguese crap league, playing normally in the first team:
ronaldo (manunited), figo (inter), quaresma (inter), simão (atletico madrid), maniche (atletico madrid), boswinga (chelsea), ricardo carvalho (chelsea), miguel (valencia), manuel fernandes (valencia), duda (malaga), deco (chelsea), pepe (real madrid), cadu (cluj), paulo costa (anarthosis), carlinhos (basel), meira (galatasaray), nani (manunited), danny (zenit leninegrado), and so many more (is a short list).
