I didn't really like football back then but I'm sure that he exceeded expectation in WC 1998 too when Vieri, Del Piero & F.Inzaghi were Italy's hottest strikers? (Even though Roby scored more than F.Inzaghi that season if I'm not wrong)

Damn Capello and Lippi for holding him back, damn them until they disappear.

Capello wasn't that bad with him. It was actually Sacchi.

No Jake, I think it was Crapello just before Baggio moved to Bologna that was treating him bad. He was expecting him to play like Emerson or Vieira now.

And Baggio is class, he could've excercised his powers like Totti or something, so Crapello would shut his mouth. Baggio acted like a pro, and carried on, and showed the world in Bologna and in WC98 who he is.

Crapello and Lippi are the biggest destroyers of finesse players, players whom you'd pay to see tieing their shoes.

How stupid to argue about this... :D

It was Sacchi. Crapello coached Milan in Baggio's first season there 1995/96 when Milan won scudetto. The next season (1996-97) Milan's coach was Arrigo Sacchi (while Crapello was in Real Madrid) and after that season Baggio left to Bologna for one season before coming to Inter.

I didn't mean the second season only. Even in his first season, Baggio wasn't treated well. I clearly remember Capello criticizing Baggio for not being a team player and not defending enough.

Well you said "I think it was Crapello just before Baggio moved to Bologna..." ;) It's true that he had his difficulties with Capello too, but during the second season Baggio got enough of Milan.

No no, Del Piero did so well at that time. He really was superior to Baggio at that point; he came third in top scorer, just after Ronaldo and Bierhorff. His style of play was far better than now. Whether he took drugs or not I'm not intending to discuss it. But Maldini's decision in using Del Piero at that time was not at all injust.

Del Piero of 97/98 was brilliant. Not only did he scored 20+ goals but he also made around 20 assists. The dream support striker.

Mazzone asked Baggio to join him at Livorno but Roberto had to decline because his knees were hurting so much.

Yep, he was as threatening as Ronaldo in Inter 97/98.

Juve vs Inter 97/98 showed it all. Classic game :star: , though it was pretty scandulous I must say.

not anymore, I heard he asked for 8 million for 6 games along with a guaranteed 60 minutes a game and so forth.
