I bet go differ, he has lots of quality in him, and is pretty young. The thing is, we don't actually need his type of player here. We need a regista, someone to control the tempo and spread our play. Soriano is not that. He is "just" an improved version of guarin.

Exactly. I think anybody here would happily take Soriano over Guarin. Let's not be greedy. Of course Biglia/Xhaka would be nice, but it's highly unlikely during January.

Plus Soriano knows the league and Mancini wants him - that's important.

I have a strange feeling regarding Soriano - his potential is not that high, or worse, he might have hit ceiling. Don't forget he was Napoli bound last summer and they pulled out in the last minutes! I smell something fishy here... Maybe they found out some inside/personal info about him.

But we could use him instead of Guarin: works hard with determination (!), both feet, good runs, nice passes.

Soriano is a hardworking AMC/CM, good at both feet and likes to dribble. He likes to play behind the striker and get inside the box. I see him more similar to Hernanes than Guarin. He is not creative nor playmaking. Will he bring our midfield to next level? I doubt it. We already have lots of runner nut none of them are commander.

They didn't pull out in the last minutes, the deal didn't went through cause they were late with signing the documents.

Having a pure DM is just Mancini's obsession...It ain't 2000/10 any more it's a new era of all around mf's who need to know how to do everything!

4-2-3-1 ain't working that well is it.
In Italy and Serie A you need to fucking dominate the mf with numerical presence.
Look at Rube they always field minimum 3man mf
Khedira,Marchisio,Pogba or different variations but they are the standard guys. players who can do it all..

He will find less space here as most of the opponent will park the bus, even his off the ball movement is good, but the truth is no one is capable to deliver a good pass to him. Sampdoria has Cassano, but we don't. Our most creative player just dwells on ball too much.
