And now the suggested low morale of Roma could be gone. Isn´t that just great? This could be good for Roma and bad for Inter. We had hoped to see a caretaker coach in charge of Roma but instead Del Neri is now their new coach. Romanisti tifosi must be thrilled right now. That is the positive thing for Roma. The negative thing is that they have had chaos and change ever since Capello left the capital and took off to Northern Italy. Roma Del Neri has certainly run into a gigantic challenge at home to Inter...

Wow...Last year before the first leg Roma game we have just changed coaches too and the game ended in draw then...

This will increase their morale as they would like to look good for their new coach, lets hope they get confused by his tactics in the begining and we benefit and get the three points

We are the only team that can lose from Roma at this moment.

Adriano - #10
After such a great game against Anderlecht this is the lineup I'd absolutely love to see against Roma.

--------------Adriano-------------Martins

--Stankovic--Cambiasso-----Veron------Andy VDM

--J.Zanetti----Materazzi-----Cordoba-------Ze Maria

---------------------------Toldo

With Cambiasso playing as a DM like he did vs. Anderlecht the attack and defense should really benefit and excel. Ze Maria also deserves to start again because he has been doing so well. So instead of playing a poor Favalli on the left I think it would be better to start Il Cap there instead so that both Ze Maria and J. Zanetti could play as defenders really making the team strong on the flanks.

With Adriano and Martins upfront Roma's defense should definately beware.

Hopefully Veron gets back into form fast or he should be dropped.

Crespo, Figo, I
roma sucked against madrid, they seem only attacked with 3 players (mancini, cassano and totti), the others just couldnot advance.. madrid sucked actually only roma was worse..

but this must change with neri at the helmet, but I believe they have a bad luck meeting us after such episodes.... Del Neri will not impose a win on this game..., he will be satisfied to get away with a draw..

roma at this moment will be very unpredictable.., none really know what del neri could do... cassano and totti should be the most creative forward pair in serie a... they're really dangerous...

roma on a good form, is a very dificult team to handle.. with our current result in serie a, a tie should be okay, but we deserve a win this time..

I agree with BDragon's line up, coz I also think that J.Zanetti in the LB position would be great. But I am not sure if Cambiasso will retain his place against Roma, coz Mancini might replace him with Davids, with Davids instead playing in front of the defence. Did we play with a rhombus midfield ? In other words - kinda diamond midfield ?

I guess we will play with kinda 4-4-2, may be stg like this (similar to BDragon's):

--------------------- toldo ----------------------

zemaria---cordoba-------burdisso----j.zanetti

v.meyde----veron---------dav/camb--stanko

--------------martins-----adriano--------------

And I won't be dissappointed to see Recoba there as well, but hopefully Vieri won't start this game as well.

I did watch Real-Roma. Roma didn't play an attacking game, but what I got scared was Roma's counter attack game and whenever they came forward, they did well. Therefore, we should really defend well when they attack, and may be it won't be bad to risk by playing Burdisso as well.
Totti, Cassano, Mancini, De Rossi all did very well whenever they came forward.

I guess it would be great to have ze maria and j.zanetti in the right and left back positions as both of them are really good. Just as Jimmy said abt Ze Maria, that he's too good to be a bench warmer. If Mancini plays the duo in the LB and RB positions, I do think that there's a very good chance that they would do very well there. I am hopeful on that.

:)

We should play with Adriano and Martins up front. At the 60 minute mark if were losing or drawing, Recoba should come on for a midfielder and join up the 3 man attack. We all saw how well that works against Parma.

Davids looks like his going to stab someone every time he gets subbed lol. Either way Sometime soon we need to give Veron and Adriano a rest. Especially Adri, cause he'll have International duty comin up soon.

Also after this game which is on the 3rd. We dont play another game until the 17th which is against Udinese. Thats a 2 week break from Serie A. But its a hard week for us.

We will play...
Vs Udine then 3 days Later
Vs Valencia then 3 days later
Vs Milan. :fero:

Too bad this match will be played a week before the biggest and most anticipated (For some of us, certainly not me) match of the season. It pales in comparison to it. Worse, Roma is in a very poor stage which makes all the glamour just fade away.
It seems that nobody reads my post because I made a huge blunder here and nobody noticed it. :depress: Anyway, I thought the derby d'Madoninna was played on the next week after the Roma game. :D

Anyway, Roma shouldn't be judged on their performance against Real Madrid in their mid-week game. They were under a care-taker coach and played extremely defensively, something I think they only do against Real Madrid.

Luigi Del Neri has taken over as the new coach and it will be interesting to see his choice in the starting line-up. Will he put Totti on the left to accomodate Cassano and Montella up-front? Or since Del Neri plays with 2 wingers and Totti isn't one, who will be sacrificed among Totti, Cassano and Montella?

Jut for your information, Singaporeans will be able to watch this game live on StarHub Channel 22 at 02:30 AM Monday. I have been able to watch all Inter's Serie A games so far! Great job StarHub! :star::p

Their new coach said Totti will be the support of 2 strikers, so I guess they'll play like this:

-------------Pelizzoli
Panucci--Ferrai--Mexes--Candela/Chivu
--------------Perrotta
---De Rossi-----------Mancini
---------------Totti
-------Cassano---Montella/Mido

Cufre has mostly played for Roma this season so I think he will start instead of Mexes/Ferrari, chalon.

True but I doubt he will change much. It is his debut as coach of Roma, he might make some changes but I predict they won´t be many. Del Neri is a 4-4-2 guy so IMO he will keep the same four players in defence against us.

Roma has only three players that are of offensive threat. They are Totti, Cassano and Mancini. That is if Montella won´t play, which I hope not. These are the players we have to isolate, and then we need to start working on defending corners. If we can manage this, we stand a great chance of winning this game, because Roma´s defence is really fragile. I wonder how much Del Neri can do to it on a few days. But we are in a dangerous situation. A new coach who is successful. Don´t be too surprised if we see a completely different Roma than during the season.

I´m pondering about the idea to use Il Capitano on the left to break down Mancini. Also, having Ze Maria and Van der Meyde on the right flank, could be a killer. Salgado and Figo absolutely killed Candela the other day.

Cufre is an underrated defender. He can be individually great, as he showed in a game against Fiorentina. I assume he´ll start, but I´m not sure about the statuses of Mexes and Ferrari.

Recoba is a must in this game. He is certainly rested and has always been awesome against Roma.

Sadly, he will be the 2nd least striker used behind Cruz...Thats a bit of a shame cause even Vieri has played more :cry2:

Since the diamond midfield is the way to go im sure if we played Davids as the DMF in place of Cambiasso he would do much better. The haters of Davids wont agree but lets be honest, the pitbull is more experienced, his quicker and can read the game much better.

And yes! he can play the holding role in front of the defence.

I am saying it so many times and I am saying it yet again. I am very much hoping that we will play J.Zanetti and Ze Maria in LB and RB positions. If we can take care of Totti, Cassano, Mancini (not sure of Montella), then there will be no problems for us at all.

I will be watching this game with my friend, and I don't want another draw game. Whenever I have told my friends to watch Inter's matches, Inter has never won, so I am hopeful that the tradition will not continue this time. :D

Roma is all mixed up right now. And we are the famous, glorious and powerful Inter. So it will obviously be the slaughter of Roma on Sunday.

Can anyone disagree with these eyes.. :sweeteye:

I'd love to agree with you. However usually a change of coach leads to a short-term kick in the a$$ for the players. I actually think Roma will be VERY dangerous on Sun. Especially as the game is played in Rome, and they would like to show some morale and spirit infront of their passionate fans!
Anyhow, I have faith in the curent team. With a bit of luck and some individual magic we can overcome Roma.

p.s interesting how people field JZ on the left wing
