Overall his performance was poor, but was more of a factor late.

To be fair all our strikers look poor because they dont get the balls....

Icardi at least scores after playing bad, I think Lukaku will too.

Lukaku should be paired up with the bench.

Just because he cost us a fortune doesn't make him immune to punishment for invisible performances.

It should make him immune the first games. You don't bench a 75m player after four games. Then you can also label him as flop on your website.

Look at how cute he is with his off the ball movement.

1ZfQ7UQ.png

First of all, terrible positioning and bad run at the wrong lane.

Second, he's asking for a pass when there's no chance of receiving one and he's in no direct line towards one. Lautaro has to stop, step over the ball, and look for Lukaku to his right and then we have to hope that the 3rd defender doesn't close in on him, which of course he'll do, who are we kidding here?

Third, all of this can be seen by how the loose defender is covering both Lukaku and Lautaro's shot/path in case he surpasses his marker. Lukaku is not only being useless for himself here, he's also causing Lautaro more problems to finish off the chance. Lukaku is simply positioned in a hopeful position that the ball squirms to him somehow either by a loose deflection or by a goalkeeper parry.

Where he should have been? Run wider, towards the 2nd post, attracting a defender. But no, he has to ask for a heeled lobbed curved pass there...

This is just a small sample of how bad his awareness is. He really is... just a poacher.

He points with fingers when he wants to make run. He should just make a run and hope someone passes him.... It's nearly impossible to make such an accurate pass that he wants. Should be more proactive. I will not dismiss him yet. He needs to be better. I will give him some time.

He better, because we just switched Icardi to Lukaku and paid 65m€ in the process (+bonuses later) while getting nothing back in Icardi sale. Which equaled to no more big reinforcement(s) which we apparently need.

My god, he won a duel or two alright.

That second ball though, never reaches anyone but the opponent.

Looks like his big cons are showing big time.

Oh, something more apart from his pathetic duels lost ratio.

Did anyone notice him after the Barella goal? I saw him moving towards the ball and then I was like, why is there another guy there. Saw the HLs now and he was standing over the fucking ball celebrating until Asamoah tried to grab it while he was doing air fucks................. Now I want to punch the screen and notify him to get hurt by it.

Someone make a GIF about that. This was beyond pathetic. To even imagine drawing comparisons of Icardi vs Barcelona at home where he just rushes to pick the ball up without blinking an eye after the ball went in, oh my days.

Except both strikers are getting lots of balls. Lots. They just keep getting beaten by their defenders on the entry pass so we can't even start the attacking move properly. We play so many vertical entry passes now to the strikers, it's ridiculous.

Both him and LM10 have also stopped making diagonal runs towards the corner flags (between CB and WB).

And they are not dropping to get the ball, both of them are staying up front waiting for the ball to work for them.

yeah...most of the time, they're hanging around, maybe 10m from the 18yd box and somewhat centrally, waiting for the entry passes and getting beaten to it by the defender most of the time :eek:blivious:

I think a first big step would be in either benching Lukaku or Lautaro and play with Politano or Sanchez instead because they arent strikers.

If Inter want be a great team we can afford to have big names on the bench. Arsenal for example has a similar problem with Auba and Lacazette with one of them being benched from time to time.

If Sanchez is fully fit he needs to be a starter no doubt.

I'll give him some kudos. He did do much better pressing defensively today.

Oh btw, he did receive the ball in the area, a very good shooting chance but instead he passed it out wide for no reason whatsoever. It was at the very beginning of the second half.

I find it amazing how such an obvious physical beast somehow manages to come of second best so much in physical battles.
