Why didn't we bring Radu back to be second GK?! Why?!

So Radu is 2nd choice in Genoa, 3rd choice in Parma but good enough to be 2nd choice at Inter :palm: FIF logic. Guys need to relax. Handa has made worse mistakes than Padelli.

I really want this dude to win a Champions League with us. He was with us through all the terrible fucking times, and finally got his time to play in CL. He was more than a worthy successor to JC, if not better than him.

Sadly I don't see a CL in our horizon any time soon, but we can at least make a push for a scudetto.

Inter have reportedly agreed to extend Samir Handanovic’s current deal with one year and tie the former Slovenia international to San Siro until 2022.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that the Nerazzurri have come to an agreement with the goalkeeper to extend his contract with 12 months.

Handanovic’s current deal expires in June 2021, but the newspaper claims that the former Udinese keeper will stay on for an additional year and sign the deal this summer.

It means the soon-to-be 36-year-old will stay at the Giuseppe Meazza for 10 years after arriving from the Friuli in July 2012.

Handanovic, who was halted by injury in 2020, has kept seven clean sheets in his 22 League matches this term, only conceding 20 goals in Serie A 2019-20.

The report also claims that Inter have identified Udinese first-choice Juan Musso as the perfect back-up to Handanovic in Milan, as coach Antonio Conte wants to bring in a reliable second choice between the sticks.

Musso arrived in Udine from Racing Club in July 2018 and has established himself as the No1 of the Friuli, keeping nine clean sheets in 26 Serie A games in 2019-20.

VIDEO | HANDANOVIC: SAVES, NUMBERS AND STATISTICS
A statistical review of our captain’s career in Nerazzurri colours, compiled in collaboration with Opta

MILAN - On 31/12/2019, Samir Handanovic ended the decade as the player with the most appearances (368) across all of Europe’s Top 5 leagues in that period. An incredible statistic, which highlights the consistency of our No.1 and Nerazzurri captain. 368 games from 2009, when he was playing for Udinese, to 2019. In the rankings for appearances in Europe’s Top 5 leagues last decade, Handanovic sits in front of Saint-Étienne’s goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier (362 games), José Callejón (Real Madrid and Napoli, 351), David de Gea (Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, 350) and Eden Hazard (Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid, 348).

Samir Handanovic’s debut for Inter came almost eight years ago, on 2 August 2012: Inter won 3-0 away to Hajduk Split, with our goals that day coming from Sneijder, Coutinho and Nagatomo. Since then, our Slovenian shotstopper born in ’84 has played 324 games in a Nerazzurri shirt. His first Serie A appearance came away to Torino on 16 September 2012.

Handanovic’s numbers in Nerazzurri colours are incredible, and reflect a consistency and excellence across all of his performances. In terms of games played, our Slovenian ranks third for all-time appearances by goalkeepers in Inter’s history. Only Walter Zenga, with 473 appearances between 1982 and 1994, and Ivano Bordon, 382 between 1970 and 1983, have defended the Nerazzurri goal more times than Samir. With 324 games, Handanovic overtakes Julio Cesar, who ended his time at Inter with 300 games played.

Samir Handanovic has prevented the opposition from scoring on 113 occasions. Our Slovenian skipper also won the award for Best Goalkeeper in Serie A from the 2018/19 season, a year in which he set a personal record for appearances in a season with 49.

So far this season, Handanovic holds an impressive average save rate, stopping 75% of the shots he’s faced in Serie A with just 20 goals conceded. He has saved 14 penalties in his Nerazzurri career, the most recent coming in our 1-1 home draw against Atalanta back in January.

Report: New deal for Handanovic

Inter have, according to the Corriere dello Sport, come to an agreement with goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and will extend his contract beyond June 2021.

The Slovenian’s current deal expires next summer, causing some concern among the Inter faithful, but the deal will allegedly be renewed as soon as possible.

But the newspaper reports that he will extend with the club and stay on to beat Walter Zenga’s record of 328 Serie A matches in goal for Inter.

If the season resumes and Handanovic remains the first choice at San Siro next season, the 35-year-old could break the record within the summer of 2021 - as he is currently on 279 league matches for the Nerazzurri.

> I wish he lifts some well-deserved trophies as welll :proud:

Big yikes on the first goal, even if no one could expect Gagliardini to lay it on a plate for Bologna like that.

Great stop on Orsolini as well though. I don't know man.

Handa needs to vary between long and short passes a bit more. 99% of the time he passed it to one of our CBs. Opponents are getting clever and they know it's worth it to start pressing up high against us.

His positioning on the equaliser is fucking shocking. Did yous see it? He's nowhere near the centre of the goal. I feel like his mentality has been fucked as well be the years of shit here and he almost "accepts" the inevitable equaliser. First goal wtf was he doing as well.

Yep and he’s our captain. He is equally as shit mentally as the rest of them and I’ve been saying that for years. Handanovic and Brozovic are two of our most important players and they are both mentally weak. How can you sustain that? Now even players who were once very mentally strong like Skriniar are reduced to half of what they were previously.

And if we don’t find a way to stop it soon Barella will be succumb to it too. Lautaro is probably already there.

If you wanna blame someone blame Skriniar. The idiot jumped away from the shot and completely covered Handa's sight of the ball

Ffs his positioning was just fine. People need to stop playing video games if they think that's how football and human bodies work.

I don't see anything wrong with his positioning. All great keepers commit to cover angles and use their intuition coz they can't cover the entire goal. Thats how Handanovic has made so many match "winning" saves for us over the years, he is absolutely brilliant with his intuition and reflexes. However to do this he has to assume his defence will do the expected minimum, and cover accordingly. In both the goals, the defenders fucked up massively and as a result Handanovic looked like an idiot. I can't blame the GK for either of those goals. Also Handanovic has been the best GK in Serie A for years now and he has proven his mentality even when everything else was falling apart around him... to suggest he has weak mentality is silly.

Perhaps some people at FIF have a weak mentality :work:

He is not best keeper in Italy for few years now.Actually he has been pretty shitty last few seasons for a "best in Italy".He is much better this season, that's true. But still he is like some holy cow, nobody can criticize him for his mistakes and there was many last few years. And guy is such a flegma and that's irittating.I can't see him as a captain in a serious team and he should be questioned also.

IMO he's definitely been the best GK in Italy for the past few years already. Bluenine explains it perfectly why these older keepers stay being great. The system is built for them to excel. They expect certain performance from the defending of the whole team. If that fails, these keepers who don't have the absolute top level reactions anymore, just look stupid.

System of Spalletti with good defense only covers for his mistakes at the end of the season when you see number of goals conceded.

That Cuadrado goal from dead angle,I think Quagliarella also had goal from dead angle, awful performance in the last game against Lazio for a CL and so on...

Guy is far from innocent and I will not pretend that he is something that he clearly isn't.
