Sandro Mazzola is undoubtedly one of the greatest strikers ever to grace the Nerazzurri club. Son of the great Valentino Mazzola, who died while playing for Torino in the Superga Air Crash (1949), Sandro was never expeted to reach the heights that he did.

He was a player who had a rather frail appearance, but a dogged determination. From the 1962/63 season, Sandro won trophies for four seasons consecutively winning major honours such as the European Cup and a Scudetto. Under Helenio Herrera, Sandro Mazzola proved to be a vital part of "La Grande Inter" of the 60's.

After several roles with Inter, Mazzola occasionally appears on Italian TV programmes.

Unfortunately, Mazzola was just before my time, so I never got to see him play, but I've only heard great things. His influence on the European Championship winning teams was incredible, will be remembered as one of the only Italian strikers who could atleast compete with Riva.

I heard he had a very bad temper. A Toro fan on Xtratime wrote a very good article on him and his father. Nevetheless, he's an Inter legend that's almost right up there with Meazza.

I can't confirm this but Mazzola was so passionate that he once slapped an Inter player after the latter missed an easy chance for a goal.

Sounds like a crazy bastard. :D

I'd feel insulted if that player were me though. It's one thing to yell at a teamate after they a miss an easy chance but slapping someone? :boxing:

Hmm Matrix style..

Well today it would be wrong but back then it was more normal to do such thing. So you can't really say that what he did was wrong since physical punishment was something that was used in the 60's. But I have also heard that he was bad tempered and a very passionate player.

But if someone knows something about him then please write it because my knowledge is limited.

I read both here and in an article that Mazzola had several in Inter's administration after hanging up his boots. Can anyone tell me which jobs he had and when he had them?

Thanks a bunch.

Wonder if I can
If I am not mistaken he was our coach, too but I can't find any info about that, just this one photo from my collection.

He wasn't coach. He's not in inter.it's list and I know that he had only administrational roles.

You weren't the most beautiful player in Inters history, but one of our finest! :D
