I dont know what was wrong with the whole team tonight. We couldn't control the simplest balls, we couldnt retrieve most of the balls without fouling, the finishing was awful, we couldn't string 3 passes together, the subs were bad, we kept making these many pointless back passes to Handanovic, we kept losing easy balls all over the pitch, most of the free balls ended up on the Shakhtar players.

It seems we didnt really come to play. The body language of Lautaro and Dzeko after missing those clear chances were like they didn't even bother. We werent even playing Inzaghi ball tonight. Just a very bad show, systematically and individually.

After that performance against Real I expected a very different show from the team tonight. Very disappointed and tbh surprised to see this shitshow against an inferior team.

People forget that this is usually a very tough ground and we mostly have Covid times memories of this lot.
It's also a rather strong team. People keep saying "they even lost to Sheriff". Yes, they did. Past tense. It means that they have took the shock, sat through it, learned from it and it was up to them to come back stronger because losing to Sheriff is not their level. There's a reason we beat them in the EL semi final 2 seasons ago. They managed to reach it in the first place.

They have several players I wouldn't mind seeing at Inter.


With all that being said, we have invited them to beat us tonight with those subs and 2nd half attitude. If Dzeko scored or Barella's bar earlier went in, we could have seen an easy win or a completely different game. But subbing Brozovic out made no sense. And I stand by what I said before the game, that Dzeko should have been benched today for Sanchez. Subbing in a fresh Dzeko with Correa could have been the difference maker here, but adding two light weight forwards when you're chasing a goal with zero midfield presence is just bad decision making.

They were more aggressive with the ball going forward. And slightly less shaky at the back.

Yeah I didn't watch their Sheriff match but I think they weren't playing this De Zerbi - Sassuolo football they did tonight. I guess these two weeks have been crucial for them to adjust and buy into De Zerbi tiki-taka. It was like total dejavu moment for me, as I remember how Sassuolo outplayed us 100-0 last spring at Meazza (despite us winning that match eventually).

It's always like that with this team, atalantas and sassuolos of the world just outplay us possession wise with their amazing playing movement. We are simply in trouble with these type of teams.

We couldn't open our game at all, it was incredibly difficult to come out from our half. We are missing some patterns for sure. Patterns we trained for 2 fucking years

It was a shame about your injury, I imagine he won't be coming back soon.
