the honeymoon just ended, miranda mentioned the scudetto

So fucking retarded.

If we win every game left we'll get 90 points, while in the last five seasons Rube has gotten 84, 87, 102, 87, 91 points. This season they have 45 points in 19 games (half a season), so they're on route to a 90 points season.

Even if they underperform in the league because of the CL, they'll still end with around 85 points (that's 17 points dropped in the second half of the season). Therefore we can only lose around 5 points in all the games left to even have a whiff of a chance at the Scudetto

I think Miranda mentioned it because he was asked about it. He replied that we need to finish as high as possible.

I hold his opinion way higher than any of you he is from a country that has won 5 WC and a bunch of Ballon D'or. What is your qualification to have an opinion on this matter.

its not about whether we actually have a shot at the scudetto or not; its about focusing on a target. For the last few years our target was always X,followed by going up to the scudetto after a good form, followed by an inevitable collapse which resulted in us missing the original target X anyway.

Pioli: "Simeone? Now I'm Inter coach. Gagliardini was the first one of our list, I see a good future here"

Long Pioli's interview to Radio Uno Rai the day after the sixth victory in row. Here are his words.

It's a good moment, you overcame Milan and you are in the tun for Champions.
"It's clear that we are in a positive moment, but Champions is still far. We must give the max in every match and think only to that".

What are the differences between Juventus and Inter managing?
"It's difficult to remember all after so many years, that Juve was strong with a strong property, a winning environment. Today Inter property is far geographically but near in everyday work. They are creating the base for a good present and a big future. I see professionality and will to grow".

Ranieri was called 'normalizator' at Inter, but you normalized Inter too.
"I have player with quality and talent, everyone underestood they have to sacrify for the team, we can do a good football but we can improve in ball circulation and the presence in area. But I have all their availability".

What kind of vote do you do to Inter?
"I leave votes to journalists, we only know that we have to start a route that will finish on May 28th. We are in delay and we know the strenghtness of the teams ahead. We must prepare well and win so many matches as possible, at the end we can judge, not now",

Football is also psychology, do you feel a psychologist?
"Mental aspect is important in every sport. Sometimes a team dominates but goes in trouble after an episode. The mental approach is the most difficult to train".

Much has been said about Simeone, did it bother you?
"Sincerely, no. I train a big team and many people would love to be in my place, Now I'm Inter trainer, I'm serene and I try to do my best, then results will decide, I hope for me".

Inter economic strenghtness worries or empowers you?
"Empowers us because we know there is an important project and let us to do the max. It's normal to talk about the future but we must focalize on present".

Insertion of young italian talents was a your suggestion?
"It's a target, to have an italian base. Gagliardini's purchase is in this project, he is already showing his talent. We must build a solid future. We had some names on our list and Gagliardini was the first one".

Don't you need an Icardi's vice?
"He's strong and he will become stronger and stronger. But I have also Palacio and Eder".

Gabigol is ready for Serie A?
"He's growing, he blows, he comes from a different country but he can be important for the future".

Italian Cup is a target?
"Surely, but we must look also to championship. We'll try to face it with great importance and ambition, we are in the last 16 and in 4 matches we can reach the final".

Now 1-0 is the best result?
"I'd prefer 2-0, to not close the match could be a risk, but to win 1-0 means that your attention is high".

Are you surprised by Allegri's change?
"No, his a great coach and he knows when he can force. He has great players that sacrify themselves and he can use the best ones. Juve is a great team but not unbeatable".

Joao Mario-Banega?
"It's good to have competition between players, because the real tarhet is the good of the team. The eleven who play are important but also the players on bench are".

What did you find of positive in this club?
"An high level of structures. We don't have other probles, we can only think to work, thanks to staff. There is all to do well, everything is well organized".

Young player can breath first team air?
"We want to do it, but we are a big and they must be at an high level to arrive here. We inserted Pinamonti because he has qualities, we are open to others".

Your relationship with Candreva?
"Good, both we want the best for Inter, at Lazio happened nothig so bad to ruin the relationship. He wanted to be captain, I had differente choices and the season went in another way. I did good in Bologna, less well in the third year. I'm at the first year ar Inter, let's see what will happen".

Why everyone say Messi will not arrive?
"Because we don't want to deceive anyone. I think to train the team, other people will think about Inter future".

Scudetto, it's a question between Juve and Roma?
"They are doing very well, we are just behind but Juve, Roma and Napoli can win. It will be an exciting challenge".

the original says "ha dei colpi", which means more or less that his technical skills let him do great things.

I don't know about his personal preferences

Haha, what??
I had the same reaction. I wasn't sure if i should include it in the post. But even when i used Google translator i got the same result. That was the text in Italian:"È cresciuto tanto, ha dei colpi". Perhaps one of the FIF members could give us a proper translation.

Edit: Thank you firmino.

Pioli in press conference: “We are fully focused on this game, the standings and to continue this momentum”

Stefano Pioli met with the press today in front of Saturday’s game against Pescara. Here is what he had to say:

With three games in seven days, is there a chance you might underestimate Pescara?
“No, now we are fully focused on this game, the standings and to continue this momentum.”

How is Gabigol?
“Today, everybody is available, they all work hard except Murillo who is under evaluation. After that everybody will be at my disposition and up for selection.”

Will any players be rested in Saturday’s game?
“The most important game for us is always the next one and we want to continue like this. Also at Palermo everybody thought we would win easily but instead it turned out to be a tough game. We want to give everything we have on Saturday, only after the game we’ll think of other stuff.”

Despite your streak, Roma and Napoli are still ahead of you. Is that frustrating?
“Those of you who follow us and the championship know that our destiny also depends on other teams. If we continue to win we will surely gain a couple of points on them, but we have to remain concentrated on our games and then we can play about it when we meet them.”

You play a lot of games in this period?
“Every game is an important milestone for our growth, of course the games in the Italian Cup are of a do-or-die type but we prepare in order to be ready for every game. We have to play as a team and we have to play every phase well, being proactive, trying to find rhythm and to overcome the opponents.”

If you would have arrived when the championship started, Inter would have been amongst the top teams. Do you feel superior to everyone?
“I know how to coach a strong team with great players that sacrifice themselves, working in a certain way always available. I found this attitude and now we can always play to win.”

In the last six games there has always been one of your ex-teams. Now there isn’t, what do you have to say about that?
“I haven’t noticed, it’s you guys who lay more focus on these statistics. I only know that each opponent must be addressed with great care, Pescara have less points than they deserve because they play well with good counter attacks. It will be tricky and we have to be careful.”

You have played a lot of games the last couple of months, were you physically ready for a streak like this?
“During the winter break we worked well, physically we are fine, the four players who played last week have held up well despite not being rested at all, but it gives us a mental boost.”

Without Ansaldi is there a chance we will see Nagatomo?
“One of Nagatomo and Santon will play for sure.”

What’s the problem with Murillo?
“He have some symptoms of the flu and haven’t practiced. Tomorrow we will see.”

What do you think of the tactical evolution of Juventus that they tried against Lazio and yesterday in the cup?
“Now, my only concern is Pescara, we want to be in the right moment.”

How should your Inter attack the games against the top teams?
“By being aware of their capacity, by knowing how to stay in the game with determination, by knowing that if you are amongst the top teams every detail can be decisive. We have to be mean and always concentrated. We have to have the mentality only the best teams have, the exact mentality we are trying to keep and are trying to show that we have. Especially in the games against the top teams.”

It'd be better if he was sprinkling our main players over Serie A. Nice meme tho, 6/10.

Pioli in long interview with CdS: “Suning is here to create not to speculate”

In a long interview with Corriere dello Sport, Inter coach Stefano Pioli talks about how it all began, his experiences, but above all Inter. Here’s an extract from an Inter point of view:

Were you an Inter fan?
“Yes, I was an Interista, because I come from an Inter family and the first Serie A match I saw was Bologna-Inter where Muraro scored. I became Interista because my father and mother spoke well of Inter. I grew up with Inter players like Beccalossi, Pasinato, Altobelli, Bordon and Bini. I have always remained Interista, even if my career as a football player and a coach brought me to different teams.”

How is it for a childhood Interista to become the coach of Inter?
“It’s very emotional, but at the same time an opportunity. An opportunity that arrived at the right moment, I have learned a lot from my previous experiences. Now I can improve in order to be more complete from a professional point of view. Not only in the technical sense but also how you manage, the attitude and psychological aspects. It’s very satisfying but at the same time it means a lot of responsibility, because I coach a great team, the team I dreamt about as a child. As a player I nearly came to Inter, when I left Parma it seemed like I was going there but on the same day I went to Juventus. Now I have an opportunity that I’m trying to make the best of.”

How was it to arrive at a team like Inter having a bit of a chaotic season?
“I was positively surprised. I found a helpful team that was willing to work. A team that was aware of the fact that they weren’t living up to Inter standards. Therefore, they were eager to pull up their sleeves and get to work. Meaning working together, carefully with quality and precision, taking care of every detail. And having the attitude of turning this season around. Also from a organisational point of view I found a helpful club with a corporate structure that didn’t seem to be compact from the outside. Instead I found an ambitious club with a united management. I had the perfect conditions to work. Then it’s obvious that when the results are negative you lose confidence in some of the players and the group loses self-esteem. The only way to get that back is to work hard and get the results, this is what we are trying to do. I thought things would be more negative. You find the right attitude here and I could restart from a technical point of view, and as I discovered, from a moral point of view. From that you can start to build something good for our present and above all you can start build for an important future of Inter.”

For me, that grew up with players like Sarti, Burgnich, Facchetti, Bedin, Guarneri, Picchi – it strikes me that Inter has a formation with very few Italians. Allegri once told me that in order to create a great team you nead a core of Italian players.
“Yes, I think Allegri is absolutely right and Juventus prove him right as did Milan back in the days when Sacchi was the coach. Everybody remembers Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard but people seem to forget about Baresi, Galli, Tassotti, Costacurta, Maldini, Donadoni and Evani. I think Inter is aware of this and I think that the acquisition of Gagliardini proves that. And it should be more transfers like that one in the future. Obviously there are great Italian players, Inter is a great team and young, talented Italian players should arrive because they are strong. This should be an objective in the future mercato.”

Is Gagliardini a regista? I think he is a great player – versatile and modern.
“I think Gagliardini is a modern midfielder. I don’t like to, as opposed to many others and above all the media, to label players. But I like the versatile players, like Gagliardini. He can play in both a two- and a three-man midfield. He has a great sense of position, has a personality and plays a very simple but effective football. That’s all I need from my midfielders. The important thing is to move yourself well on the pitch, have the time to deliver the passes and to put yourself in position. To sum it up, for a midfielder it’s important to know both phases of the game, and he does. He’s a youngster who is still developing, but he’s a kid ready to give us energy, physicality and effectivity. He is an important investment for Inter.”

Let’s talk about Gabigol for a moment? You have brought him back I think. When he arrived everybody thought he was the new Pelé, then he ended up on the bench and now he seems to be back?
“I think there are many examples of young foreign players that come to Italy and have a difficult first year. It’s obvious that a young talented player that comes from a country far, far away needs time to adjust to the culture, work culture, mentality, teammates, and the language. I think of Felipe Anderson who in his first year in Lazio had a difficult time. But he never gave up and continued to work and to believe in himself and the next year he got the success he deserved. I have only been here for a short while but he has already grown a lot and he has to continue like this. He can’t be depressed when he doesn’t get the call and can’t be over-enthusiastic when he comes on the pitch.”

What do you think about the Chinese invasion in football?
“China is a country currently in a huge economic, cultural and athletic expansion. So it’s no surprise that they have a great potential in the world. As a result there are strong investors in sport. Like in the Premier League, first there was American investors, then there were Eastern. They bring, besides a strong economy, a great culture of working ethic and professionalism. They work hard and with a perfection that I think will improve the modern football.”

Is there a bit of prejudice? Because if the sheiks invest millions no one says anything but when the Chinese do it’s a scandal.
“Us Italians are like this, we are concerned of people coming from the outside, they scare us. It takes some time to getting used to some things. From what I have experienced, they are very determined people who support me and want to invest. They didn’t come here to speculate, I see people that want to build something and want to do well. They want to invest with logic and they want to improve the structure. At the moment I see only positive things.”

Where will your Inter arrive this season?
“Obviously, in this moment, our future depends a lot on us. But it’s not only us who decides our future, meaning that we are trying to gain points on the teams above us in the standings and all we can do is try to win every game and that is what we are doing right now. But we also know that there are strong teams in front of us. I tell my players that from here to the 28th of May we have to try to win every game and that we have the quality to do that. But only after May 28th can we sum things up. Of course it will be a difficult task with a lot of problems. We know that but it also fascinates us.”

Is there a young Italian you would like to have on your team?
“At the moment in Italy there are a lot of interesting young players. I’m thinking of Berardi and Bernardeschi who are very talented but I also want to mention Pinamonti. We can’t put too much pressure on a young kid like him, he has only played one game. But he is a great prospect, has a lot of talent but foremost is serious and humble. I think he’s a great prospect for Inter but also for the Italian football.”

That'll be the next week's interview, right after Maradona gives new insight into how he feels about Icardi.
