I understand the sceptism, but you'll quickly change your mind when you understand what we are getting is actually a young Borja. This guy can retain and distribute the ball better than anyone we have. Too bad we won't be playing Spalliball tho.

Squad Depth
But if we pool all of our money into the big names we wont have the depth to play in three competitions. There is still more to come in this market, this is just one piece.

Sensi and Vecino are not even the same mould of players, one bases his game on his brain, the other athleticism.

Stop complaining for the sake of it.

This is gonna turn out like the Kdog experience.

Come on guys, its a fucking loan for 5m. And Sassuolo will immediately return that money for a primavera kid. This is NOTHING like the Kdog experience. This isn't even like the Politano experience - my main problem with Politano was that he was brought to be our starting winger. Sensi is coming in as a replacement for Valero, who was our Brozovic backup. He is good enough to be a squad player, and we get to test drive him for a season. That sounds like a smart deal.

Sensi is also a young, Italian talent - which is something Marotta is keen to focus on. We will see more and more Italian players in our squad now after Politano & Ranocchia have been confirmed and now maybe Sensi. We will also probably see one or two of Barella, Bastoni, Pinamonti, Dimarco, etc join the squad. Marotta believes it important to have a Italian base to build upon, even if initially its mostly bench players largely supplied by the primavera. This is a long term play on team dynamics & dressing room culture.

As long as we focus most of our budget on a few quality players for the starting XI, I have no problem with this strategy.

Never seen him play. Feels like this acquisition makes some SENSE because we need midfielders. Reality check for those dreamers (including myself) who was waiting for the gift from Sunning - the mysterious mister X, the mark signing - Christian Eriksen.

Must not be that good if they agreed to a deal so fast.

If he was any good after Inter met their price they would have raised it again.

Seriously, you guys haven't seen Sensi play? Hows that even possible, if you watch Serie A? He has also played for Mancini's Italy, even scored a goal. Even if you don't watch much of Serie A or Azzurri, surely you saw him play against Inter?

Sensi is no superstar, but he has had a good season. There are people here who wanted Duncan back and Sensi is definitely better than him.

That said, I would have preferred Tonali over Sensi as vice-Brozovic. Sensi may be more ready, but my gut feeling is that Tonali has a much higher ceiling.

I'll guess it will be something like that:
--------------Brozo / Sensi----------
Barella / Vecino ----- 9golan / Gags
-------------------2 strikers----------

Everyone's saying Sensi is a vice-Brozovic, and will replace Valero as a rotation option, and that this signing has no impact on our attempt to sign Barella. I'm far too cynical to believe any of those things until I see them happen with my own eyes. Until then I say, "Benvenuto, Sensi! Our big signing of the mercato and marquee new starting midfielder!"

Solid buy. Low risk, high reward type of deal.
Last year, most of you complained how our bench sucks, now we get a good rotational player, who i think under Conte might/will surprise us all, and yall still bitch about it. Mercato is long and barely starting. If this is the type of rotational players we're getting this summer, as opposed to Vecinos and Borjas and Jmarios, then im all for it.
This is Marotta signing all over it, for some of ya'll here who keep track who signs who, so in the end to bitch about it :)

l would be very happy with this signing if we are to sign 2 more quality midfielders. I have watched few games played by Sensi and liked him, so no complaints at all.

I don't think Sensi is going to be a bench player. Most probably he will occupy the registra spot with Brozovic moving a bit higher on the pitch.

Sensi-Brozovic-Barella-Naingolan diamond shape midfield doesn’t sound to bad to me.
All can score...all high intensity running motor...with Conte aggressive tactics, no nonsense approach...might work pretty good!

See the thing is, none of Vecino, Valero or Mario were bought to be rotational players. They were all bought as starters and played as starters for various amounts of time. They're simply poor players which is why all 3 have become unwanted in a short period of time. Joao Mario is actually our most expensive signing of all time. The fact that he has become a barely-rotation option is a dismal failure.

You simply can't say something like, "In the past we bought Vecino and Mario as bench players but now we're buying Sensi as a bench player - look at the improvement."
