You know, after actually being there, I have to admit that my perspective is changed 180 degrees about the vuvuzelas. I actually love it. :D

I understand it's bloody irritating to hear that in TV but it doesn't sound so bad in reality and I even joined in the fun. Makes a great souvenir too. :D

Heard it's banned from the Rugby World Cup.

Well I do drink. Depends on the occasion really. A soccer match is definitely not one of them.

Soccer matches/the pub before the match are the best places to drink in America.

Back on topic: Vuvuzelas are banned from Yankee Stadium, but I've seen them at New York Red Bull games.

He probably took a lot of vuvuzelas with him, and that's how he paid the money back.

this is the gayest thread on the whole board.... love vuvuzelas. Love getting my vuvuzela blown too!!! in all sseriousness if it bothers you that much, put the TV on mute or don't go to games. it's the way it's down in SA so instead of moaning respect their culture.

Erm.... So I assume South Africans mute football games and blow their vuvuzelas instead right? :lala:

As for the culture, I'm pretty sure you can't say it's a culture thing since it wasnt' around since 2001 and it came from Mexico, 15 years after their World Cup, and it's not even a cultural thing in Mexico...

vuvuzelas, horns etc, remind the world of the old, medieval warmongering eras, when horns were blown in order to announce a charge, battle commencing etc.

So if you really want to stick with "culture", it shows that the South Africans are, pro-war, pro-violence etc

So what if it just started in 2001, everything's gotta start from somewhere. SA anthem is less than 20 years old, should we not respect it either? The SA soccer league is like 15 years old. Everything is new south africa. What are you, a miserable old man? Fuck's sake, its just a bit of fun. Maybe go watch Tennis or golf. Or turn down your hearing aid  Fans should be allowed to support their countries in whatever fashion they see fit so stop bitching. Whether it annoys you is it up to you, I was just glad to see and hear something different. I own a vuvuzela, drove my neighbors nuts with it until they went out on got their own

What the fuck are you on about mate? New Zealand All Blacks do the Hakka before every match ("Kill him! Chop him up! Baste him!") does it mean they're waging war against their opponents? I bet you'll bitch and moan when the samba drums come out next world cup and brazilian bikini-clad babes gyrate their stuff at the games
