God, really? I thought he had a ton of really bad give aways, including the one that led to Roma's first goal. He defended great, but there was a lot of carelessness with the ball in the midfield for the first hour or so, reminded me of how he played last year when he was still settling in.

Yeah, Motta is not good enough for Cambi role. He's just too tense and short-tempered. His distribution is of course better than Cuchu's but oh HELL how he sometimes gets doesn't understand when to calm down and not make that fucking tackle.

I believe he is improving or adjusting defensively in this position. Obviously he will never be a top DM like Cambiasso, but I think his defensive skills are no worse than other deep lying playmakers playing there, like Xabi Alonso, or Pirlo.

He got many good sliding tackles, and stole the ball on many occasions. He still misses here and there, and he would have to imporve on that, cause when someone skipps him, then there is a big hole in front of deffense, with nobody to close down. That was the case yesterday, but it happened just 2, 3 times. He also has sometimes his "brain issues", although good thing, they are not as sever as with headless. If he improved on that, and on his defensive skills(especialy mental ones) I think he would be amazing in that position for us(considering it would stay that way).

He took a risk, had he succeeded, we'd be saying he was a genius now. We see Lucio do these in every game, where he all of a sudden goes in front of the opponent player and steal the ball. Motta attempted the same, but it failed this time, and it hurt us. At the same time, Maicon could have easily cleared that cross to a corner, so both of these two were at fault for that.

Motta in general is a player that take risks, and it works quite a lot. So we cannot be too harsh on him when it fails, because the majority of the times, these things, he has accomplished. It's a good way to start a very quick counter-attack when it works, unfortunately this time it didn't.
